順反りして弦高が高い状態、電装パーツをEMG・プリアンプ搭載から元のパッシブ仕様に戻す内容です。

元のパーツはお客様の要望で流用する形となりました。
古い電装パーツなのでガリ等が発生しておりますが音を出すには問題無さそうです。

This is a rewiring and setup job for a 1970s Fender USA Jazz Bass.

The neck was bowing backward, causing high string action. The project involved reverting the electronics from the EMG pickups and preamp to the original passive configuration.

At the customer’s request, we reused the original parts.
Since the electronics are old, there is some crackling, but it doesn’t seem to affect the sound.

消耗が大きい状態で、セレクター不良やジャックのガリが起きています。

フレット交換時はネックの状態が悪く、また指板Rもかなり荒いです。
ネックの捻じれを削って処理し指板Rを正しく整形して仕上げました。

またフェンダー製品のジャズマスターは何故かネックジョイントザグリが深い事が多く（過去にも同じ様な状態の物あり）、このモデルも同様です。
厚めのシム2枚入れて調整する事となりました。
過去のブログでも記載してますが酷い場合はシムを4～5枚入れないと正しい弦高にならない物もあったりします。

セレクター切り替えで音が出なくなる・ジャックにガリは新品パーツに交換し対処しました。

トラスロッドも殆ど100％余っている状態になり、長く使用し続けるには良好な状態です。

弾き易くなり音質も良い個体に産まれ変わりました。

This is a fret, selector switch, and jack replacement on a Fender USA Jazzmaster.

The instrument was in a state of significant wear, resulting in a faulty selector switch and a scratchy jack.

When replacing the frets, the neck was in poor condition, and the fingerboard radius was quite rough.
We corrected the neck twist by filing it down, properly reshaped the fingerboard radius, and finished the guitar.

Also, for some reason, Fender Jazzmasters often have deep neck joint recesses (I’ve seen similar cases in the past), and this model was no exception.
I had to insert two thick shims to adjust it.
As I’ve mentioned in past blog posts, in severe cases, I’ve had to insert 4–5 shims just to achieve the correct string height.

I resolved the issues with the selector switch not producing sound and the crackling jack by replacing them with new parts.

The truss rod now has nearly 100% of its travel remaining, putting it in excellent condition for long-term use.

It has been reborn as a guitar that’s easy to play and sounds great.

全ての電装パーツにガリがあり、音が出なくなる時がある状態です。

ヴァンザンドのトゥルービンテージ×2、ロックの仕様です。

ややもっさりだが音抜けが良くバランスが良い、リアは通常のストラトの音を程好くパワーを上げた感じで扱い易いです。
ヴァンザンド製PUは価格面でも非常にお勧めです。

Wiring repair and setup for a Fender USA Stratocaster.

All electrical components exhibited crackling noise, occasionally causing loss of sound.

All electrical components have been replaced with new parts.

Two Van Zandt True Vintage pickups, locked configuration.

The sound is slightly thick but has good projection and balance. The bridge pickup feels like a standard Strat tone with a nice boost in power, making it very manageable.
Van Zandt pickups are also highly recommended for their price point.

弦に触れてもノイズが消えない状態です。

お客様にお話を伺うと新パッケージのエリクサー弦に交換して（弦は新品で購入したばかり）から急にノイズが出てきたとの事です。

テスターでチェックしてみると巻き弦が通電せず、巻き弦は弦アースが機能しない状態です。

念の為に内部配線も確認しましたが問題無く、巻き弦の通電が悪いのでエリクサー弦の使用で弦アースが取れない事から弾いててノイズが出る事は間違いない状態です。

エリクサーのベース弦では昔からこうしたトラブルは起こっていたりしたのですが、ギター弦ではあまり聞かなかったので驚きました。

過去のYoutubeでも弦の製造に関わった方との対談でエリクサーはコーティング加工時の後処理で表面を削っているそうですが、この削りが甘いと弦の金属部分が露出せず弦アースが取れない状態になると思います。

上記はあくまでも予想ですが、現に通電しないのはコーティングが厚い状態ですので弦アースが取れない状態での使用は難しいです。

プレーン弦に触れていれば良いのですが、そうした意識を持って弾かないと通電しないエリクサーに当たってしまった際はややこしい事になります。

I’m consulting about noise issues with a Fender USA Stratocaster.

The noise persists even when touching the strings.

According to the customer, the noise suddenly started after replacing the strings with a new package of Elixir strings (the strings were brand new when purchased).

Testing revealed the wound strings are not conducting electricity, meaning the string ground is not functioning.

I also checked the internal wiring as a precaution, but found no issues. Since the wound strings are not conducting properly, it’s clear that the string ground isn’t being established when using Elixir strings, causing the noise when played.

I’ve heard of similar issues with Elixir bass strings for a long time, but I was surprised to hear about this happening with guitar strings.

In a past YouTube interview with someone involved in string manufacturing, they mentioned that Elixir strings undergo surface grinding during post-coating processing. If this grinding is insufficient, the metal part of the string remains unexposed, preventing proper string grounding.

This is just my guess, but since the current isn’t flowing due to the thick coating, using the strings without proper grounding is tricky.

It’d be fine if you were playing plain strings, but if you don’t keep that in mind and end up with non-conductive Elixir strings, things get complicated.

フレットが全体的に大きく消耗、ナット溝が高い弦がある状態で演奏面で不具合が起きています。

配線が素人作業されている状態で、ボリューム・セレクターにガリがあるので交換、ついでにジャックも交換し信号ラインは問題が起きない様に仕上げました。

ペグは注意点として、交換するペグによっては綺麗に付かない場合があります。

交換するペグにてブッシュ径が合わないのでコンバーションブッシュで対応しました。
ペグはナット止めタイプだと10ｍｍ穴が空いている事が多く、ビスのみで止まっているクルーソンタイプは穴が小さいので交換時は要注意です。互換性はありません。
こうした交換を簡単にする為にコンバージョンブッシュというパーツが存在するので、加工せず交換したい場合はこのブッシュが別途必要になります。

しかしペグ穴ピッチが合わなくなりペグの間に隙間がある状態（使用に問題無し）になる事もあるので、見た目は悪くなりますがビスが掛かる程度であれば付く分に問題はありません。
6連クルーソンタイプ等に交換する際は綺麗に付かない事もあるのでコンバージョンブッシュを使って交換できるとしても見た目上で難点が出る可能性はありますのでこの辺りも要注意です。
気になる人は同タイプのペグに交換する（クルーソンタイプ←→シャーラータイプと仕様を変える交換を行わない）事をお勧めします。

お客様の要望で1音下げにセッティングしました。
ネックコンディションも良くロッドの余り量も多い状態です。

こうした事で分かる事として、ダウンチューニング等で弦張力がネックに負荷を与えている期間が少ない程に当然ながら順反りし難くなります。
弦は緩めて保管しないといけない理由が分かると思いますが、ネックは弦張力で順反りしていく物なので使用していない時は負荷を無くす為に緩めて保管していると長持ちします。

Fender USA Stratocaster: Peg replacement, nut slot adjustment, fret leveling, and rewiring.

The frets show significant overall wear, and some strings have high nut slots, causing playability issues.

The wiring was amateurishly done, with crackling noise in the volume and selector switches, so they were replaced. The jack was also replaced to ensure the signal path is problem-free.

Note regarding the tuning pegs: Depending on the replacement pegs used, they may not fit perfectly.
The bushings didn’t match the diameter of the replacement pegs, so conversion bushings were used.
Nut-retaining type pegs often have a 10mm hole, while Kluson type pegs have a smaller hole, so caution is needed during replacement.
Conversion bushings exist to simplify such replacements. If you want to replace them without modification, these bushings are required separately.

However, this may cause the peg hole pitch to mismatch, resulting in gaps between the pegs (though this does not affect functionality). While this looks unsightly, it’s acceptable as long as the screws hold securely.
When replacing with a 6-string Kluson type, for example, a perfect fit might still be difficult. Even if conversion bushings allow the replacement, cosmetic imperfections are possible, so be aware of this.
For those concerned, we recommend replacing with the same type (e.g., Kluson type ←→ Kluson type; avoid changing specifications like Kluson to Schaller).

We set it down one step per customer request.
The neck condition is good, and there is ample rod adjustment remaining.

This illustrates an important point: the less time strings exert tension on the neck (e.g., during down-tuning), the less prone it becomes to warping.
This explains why strings should be stored loosened. Since neck warping occurs under string tension, storing the instrument with strings loosened removes this load, prolonging its lifespan.

新品購入ですがアウトレット品（詳細は不明）との事です。

センターズレが起こっており、弦落ちし易いとの事で直しました。

高額なモデルでも意外とネックポケットが広かったりしますので、ネックのセンターズレ等は高額なモデルでも起こっていたりします。
本来は楽器屋で調整した状態で販売するのですが、近年は楽器屋の従業員も素人が増えてきているので気が付かずに販売するケースも多くなっています。

そしてびっくりなのは新品なのにトラスロッドの差し込み口がナメっている状態です。
これがアウトレット品として販売されていた理由？かもしれませんが購入したお客様には購入時の説明は一切無かったとの事です。

アウトレット品は本当に注意が必要で、楽器屋でも特に理由を明記して販売する事はありません。
なので知識を持って「何が理由で安くなっているのか？」を聞いた方が良いです。
基本的に安くなる理由があるはずです。

ナメっているのですがロッドを回す事はできたのですが恐らく力加減が分からないとナメって回せなくなる状態かと思います。

トラスロッドの余り量も少ない状態です。
近年は新品でも最初からトラスロッドの余り量が少ない事が非常に多くなったので、そうした状態の楽器は基本的に長持ちしないと思った方が良いでしょう。

Setup for a Fender USA Jazz Bass V.

Purchased new, but reportedly an outlet item (details unknown).

The center was off, causing strings to drop easily, so I fixed it.

What’s surprising is that even though it’s new, the truss rod socket is stripped.
This might be why it was sold as an outlet item? However, the customer who bought it said they received no explanation at the time of purchase.

Outlet items truly require caution; even music stores rarely specify the exact reason for discounting them.
Therefore, it’s wise to ask knowledgeable staff, “What’s the reason for the discount?”
There’s usually a reason behind the lower price.

Although the rod was stripped, it could still be turned. However, without knowing the correct amount of force, it would likely become impossible to turn without stripping it further.

The truss rod also has very little adjustment range left.
In recent years, even new instruments often come with minimal truss rod adjustment range from the factory. Instruments in this condition generally won’t last very long.

元からトラスロッドに余裕が殆ど無い状態です。
USAだから、カスタムショップ製だからと言って状態が良い訳ではありません。
新品でもロッドに余裕が無い物や少ない物も全然ありますので購入時に絶対に確認してから購入したいポイントです。

調整でトラスロッド限界になりましたが、もう少し締めて真っすぐにしたい状態です。

音が良い傾向ですが硬めなサウンドです。

The truss rod had almost no adjustment range from the start.
Just because it’s USA-made or Custom Shop doesn’t mean it’s in good condition.
Even new guitars often have limited truss rod travel, so this is a crucial point to check before purchasing.

Adjustment brought the truss rod to its limit, but it still needs a bit more tightening to straighten properly.

It tends to sound good, but the tone is on the brighter side.

左利きモデルになります。

新品購入したモデルですが特に状態に不具合無しで調整できました。

左利きモデルは数が少なく、選択肢も非常に限られてくるので大変かもしれません。

左利きモデルのボディさえあれば通常の右利きネックを付けて弾く事もできるのですが、中古でも多くは出回らないと思うので左利きの方は購入時に苦労するのでメーカーもこの辺りはもう少し増産しても良いと思います。

This is a setup for a Fender USA Jazzmaster.

It is a left-handed model.

Although it was purchased new, it was in perfect condition and required no adjustments.

Left-handed models are scarce, and the selection is extremely limited, so it can be quite challenging.

If you have a left-handed body, you could theoretically attach a standard right-handed neck and play it. However, even used ones don’t seem to circulate much, so left-handed players often struggle to find one. Manufacturers could really increase production in this area.

電装パーツをPU以外全交換、フレット消耗が凄くすり合わせで修正しました。

またトラスロッドの余裕少ない状態です。

古いモデルは基本的に状態が悪い事が多いので中古で購入する際も注意が必要ですがナットやフレット、電装パーツは交換でいくらでも直す事ができます。

消耗が大きい箇所があっても中古品は当然とも言えるので、どこが簡単に直せる箇所と直せない箇所か把握していればそこまで購入の選択に失敗しないと思います。

ギブソン製SGのネック割れ修正です。

ヘッドの接着面に亀裂が入っている状態、3Pマホガニーネックです。
特に割れも酷い状態ではないのでそのまま使用していても問題無さそうですが、要望により接着する事となりました。

また配線にミスがある様でセンターでフェイズアウトする状態です。

古い年代製に多い事ではありますがこちらはトラスロッドの効きがおかしいです。
内部のトラスロッドに不具合がありそうで調整後に弦高が変わる（反りの状態が変わる）ので、内部でのトラスロッドの引っ掛かりが悪い様子です。
ある程度触っていると落ち着いてきますが、状態としては不安でしかありません。
こうした状態は最悪トラスロッドが効かなくなる事もあるので、作りが悪いメーカー品を購入するという事はこうした不具合が起こってくる事も理解しないといけません。

こうしたメーカーがある事から「トラスロッドを一気に回したら壊れる」という間違った知識が広まっています。
トラスロッドを回した事が悪いのではなく、回しただけで壊れる様な作りをしている事が問題です。
当然ながらこうした事がリペアで私が触って起きたとしても責任を取る事は致しません。
メーカーの問題なのと、こうした知識を持っていないお客様の問題です。
そうしたトラブルにならない様に理解して購入した方が良いです。

This is a Gibson SG neck crack fix.

The head has a crack on the gluing surface, and the neck is made of 3P mahogany.
The crack is not so bad, so it seems to be OK to use it as it is, but we decided to glue it back together by request.

Also, there seems to be a mistake in the wiring and it phases out at the center.

The truss rod is not working properly, as is often the case with older models.
The internal truss rod seems to be defective, and the string height changes after adjustment (the state of warping changes), so the truss rod is not hooked properly inside.
It will settle down after some touching, but the condition is only uneasy.
In the worst case scenario, the truss rod may stop working, so it is important to understand that purchasing a poorly made product from a manufacturer can lead to this kind of problem.

Because of the existence of such makers, the false knowledge that “turning the truss rod all at once will break it” is widespread.
The problem is not that turning the truss rod is bad, but that the truss rod is made in such a way that it can be broken just by turning it.
Of course, I will not take responsibility if such a thing happens when I touch the truss rod for repair.
It is the manufacturer’s problem and the customer’s problem who does not have such knowledge.
It is better to buy with understanding to avoid such problems.
