3Wayから5Wayに交換です。

昔のモデルを再現したストラトキャスターはセレクターが3Wayのモデルがあり、これだとハーフトーンが使えない状態（無理矢理使う事は可能）となります。

セレクターを5Wayに交換してみるとハーフトーンの音が良いモデルです。

流石に古いモデルな事もありフレット状態が悪いので、音が気に入って使い続ける場合は次回にすり合わせをお勧めします。

This is a selector switch replacement and setup for a Greco SE-500 Stratocaster.

We’re upgrading it from a 3-way to a 5-way selector switch.

Some Stratocasters designed to replicate older models come with a 3-way selector switch, which means the half-tone position cannot be used properly (though it is possible to force it).

After replacing the selector switch with a 5-way version, this model produces a great half-tone sound.

As expected for an older model, the frets are in poor condition, so if you like the sound and plan to keep using this guitar, I recommend having the frets leveled during your next visit.

当時に新品購入して所持してたワンオーナー品ですが、弦高が低すぎる状態でまともに弾く事ができない状態です。

調整してみると特に問題無く弾ける状態となりましたがリアPUに不具合があります。

リアPUがSH-4？なのか、弦ピッチが合わず6弦の音がかなり小さいのでポールピース高を異常な位までかなり高さを上げ目にしないと他の弦の音量と釣り合わない状態です。

特に交換歴は無いとの事なので最初からこれが付いていると思うのですが、シンクロ等にはTBが必要になります。

ダンカンだとSHとTBの違いは弦ピッチが違い、SHは狭くTBは広いピッチになります。

SHはチューンOマチック用、TBはシンクロやフロイドローズ用となります。

This is the setup for a Fujigen Stratocaster.

I bought this brand-new back then and have been the sole owner ever since, but the string action was so low that I couldn’t play it properly.

After adjusting it, I was able to play it without any major issues, but there’s a problem with the bridge pickup.

I’m not sure if the bridge pickup is an SH-4?, but the string spacing is off, and the 6th string sounds quite faint. To balance the volume with the other strings, I have to raise the pole piece height to an unusually high level.

Since the owner says it’s never been replaced, I assume this is the original pickup. However, a TB is required for synchronized tuners and the like.

With Duncan pickups, the difference between SH and TB models is the string spacing: SH has narrow spacing, while TB has wider spacing.

The SH is designed for Tune-O-Matic bridges, while the TB is designed for synchronized or Floyd Rose bridges.

バッカス製ストラトキャスターを改造し、シングルコイルPUのポールピース高調整用ギターにする改造です。

昔はこうしたギターを持っていたのですが売却してしまい、今回は似た物を作る事となります。

シングルコイルPUは弦の音量バランスが悪く、音が良いコードの響きを出す事ができません。
理由は単純で、現在主流の09-42弦や10-46弦に合わせたポールピース高になっていない単純な理由です。

メーカーも素人なので、こうした変化に合わせた改良を一切行っておりません。
昔の50～60年代の形状を今でも続けています。

弦の音量を合わせ鳴らす事により綺麗な和音を出す事が可能になります。

しかし難点は「全て同じ高さにならない」事です。

ギターによっても音量が変わってくるし、ポジションによっても音量が変わるし弦によっても変わります。

なので正確に完璧にとは言えなくても、使用する弦の太さに合わせて調整すれば大きな音量ズレ無く良いサウンドが出せるシングルコイルＰＵに作り変える事は可能です。

動画でも紹介しておりますがヴァンザンドＰＵで試しに簡単な改良を行いました。

基本的にシングルコイルの場合だと6弦と3弦の音が大きい事が多いです。

単純に音が大きい弦を下げるだけでも全体のバランスが均等に近付き、コードの響き鳴りが非常に良くなります。
この辺りは動画で確認できる事でしょう。

プレートの高さまで6弦と3弦は下げてみるだけでもお勧め改造です。
正確にはもう少し6弦・3弦は下げる、5弦も少し下げる、1弦は少し上げる等するとより良くなります。

GCAテレキャスターの時と同じく、ピックガード下は大きなザグリを入れました。

これによる音の良さが上がっている事も理由ですが、それよりもこうしたポールピース高調整用ギターは何度かPUを外す動作をするので、その作業がやり易くする為にこうなっています。

弦を張ったままでも横からピックガードが引き抜ける様にしました。
コネクタで付けているのでPUをピックガードから外せば簡単に脱着可能です。

シングルコイルPUのポールピース高調整は音を出して確認し、それに合わせて上げ下げを繰り返すだけです。
この作業を何度か繰り返すので、この外す作業は地味に大変です。

なのでこうした専用ギターがあると便利です。
1回で決まる事はまず有り得ないので、3～4回は修正する位の気持ちで作業しましょう。

一度各弦の音量が決まれば非常に音が良くなるので、シングルコイルPUはまずこの状態に至った上で音のレビューをした方が良いです。

この状態になっていないシングルコイルPUは基本的に音はそこまで良い状態ではありません。

この状態になるだけでも音が良くなるので、PU交換を考える事が減ると思います。

なので一早くこの状態になる様にしましょう。
今付いているPUが実は非常に音が良いモデルだった！って事も全然あり得ると思います。

音が良くなかった理由は「ポールピース高の高さが悪いから」と知って下さい。

フレット全体が錆びており、錆び取りも含めてフレットすり合わせです。

特に状態等は問題ありませんが、ラッカー塗装でケースに入れっぱなしだと揮発した塗装がフレットを錆びさせる事もある様子です。
シリカゲル等を入れて保管していても、定期的にケースを開けて空気の循環は必要と思います。

P-90が3つ付いたストラトキャスターですが、音の芯が強く立ち上がりが早いサウンドです。
国産ギターみたいな音とクオリティでした。

This is a fret leveling job on a Performance Guitar Stratocaster.

The frets were completely rusted, so the fret leveling included rust removal.

There were no particular issues with the guitar’s condition, but it seems that if a lacquer-finished guitar is left in its case for too long, the evaporated lacquer can cause the frets to rust.
Even if you store it with silica gel or similar desiccants, I think it’s necessary to open the case periodically to allow air to circulate.

This Stratocaster is equipped with three P-90 pickups and produces a sound with a strong core and fast attack.
It had the sound and quality of a Japanese-made guitar.

フレット全体がかなり大きく消耗している状態・ナット溝高が高い所がある状態です。

フレットは弾けば減るので、基本的に凹みが見えてきたらすり合わせが必要です。

ナット高はフェンダーの精度も高くないので、元からナット高が高い弦があったりします。

すり合わせを行い、ナット高を適切に仕上げる事で音詰まり無く弾き易い状態に仕上げる事ができました。

This is a fret leveling and nut slot adjustment for a Fender USA Stratocaster.

The frets were showing significant overall wear, and the nut grooves were too deep in some areas.

Since frets wear down with playing, they generally need to be leveled once indentations become visible.

Because Fender’s precision isn’t always the best, some strings may have a higher nut height than others right out of the box.

By leveling the frets and properly adjusting the nut height, we were able to achieve a smooth, easy-to-play finish without any muffled tones.

かなりフレットが消耗した状態です。過去にフレットすり合わせ歴があり、元のフレット高も低い状態から大きく消耗している状態です。

お客様との相談で元の指板R180のまま交換する事となりました。

指板が180Rだと1弦チョーキングで音詰まりが発生する為、チョーキングするなら弦高低めができない状態となるのでフレット交換時に240Rに削って仕上げる事が多いです。
ただこのモデルはラウンド貼り指板の為、指板が薄いので削って指板変更は元から不可です。

トラスロッドの余り量も多く状態良好でした。

ミディアムジャンボフレットに交換し、弾き易い状態に仕上げる事ができました。

This is a fret replacement on a Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster.

The frets are quite worn down. The guitar has been leveled in the past, and the frets have worn down significantly from their originally low height.

After consulting with the customer, we decided to replace the frets while maintaining the original fingerboard radius of 180.

Since an 180R fingerboard causes the sound to get muffled when bending the 1st string—meaning you can’t set the string height low enough for bending—we often sand it down to a 240R radius during a fret replacement.
However, because this model features a round-laminated fingerboard, the fingerboard is thin, so sanding it down to change the radius is not an option from the start.

The truss rod had plenty of adjustment left and was in good condition.

I replaced the frets with medium-jumbo ones, resulting in a guitar that’s a pleasure to play.

お客様持ち込みのポット×3、ルジールPUに交換です。

最近は良さに気が付いた人が購入しているPUですね。

パワーが無いヴィンテージタイプだが音抜けが良くコード鳴りが綺麗で、リアは少し出力が高く全体バランスが良いPUです。

これはストラトキャスターとして理想的なサウンドに思います。
フロントからリアまでここまで良いバランスしたサウンドを出せるのは意外と無いので、ArqueNoteは一般的に流通した方が良いPUですね。

This is a pickup and pot replacement and setup for a Tokai Stratocaster.

We replaced the pickups with three pots provided by the customer and Luzier pickups.

These are pickups that people have been buying lately after realizing how good they are.

Although they’re vintage-style pickups with lower output, they have excellent projection and a clean chord tone; the bridge pickup has slightly higher output, resulting in a well-balanced overall sound.

I think this is the ideal sound for a Stratocaster.
It’s surprisingly rare to find a pickup that delivers such a well-balanced sound from the neck to the bridge, so ArqueNote pickups really deserve to be more widely available.

新品購入したばかりとの事ですが、かなり弦高が高く弾き難い状態です。

調整して触ってみるとトラスロッドの余り量が残り少ない状態で、新品でこの状態から使い続けるとなると恐らく長持ちはしないと思います。

現在は木材強度が昔と比べて非常に劣るので、新品でも弦張力に負けて大きく順反りします。

それをトラスロッドの調整で真っ直ぐに直すので、新品でも最初から多くトラスロッドが使われます。

だから新品でもトラスロッドに余裕が少ない物が多くなっています。

現実ではそうした柔らかいネックはしばらくすると順反りする為、それらを調整すると新品でもトラスロッドが限界近い個体が普通に販売されているのが現状です。

当然ながらそうした状態なので、使用を続けて順反りしていきトラスロッドの調整で直せる範囲を超えてきたらもうダメです。

新品時点でトラスロッドに余裕が少ない楽器はそうした楽器を買ってしまう意味でもあるので、購入前に必ず目の前で正しく調整できた上でトラスロッドを回させて余り量を確認して買わないと損です。

この辺りの情報はYoutubeや過去ブログ記事で紹介しておりますので参照下さい。

新品の時点でトラスロッドの余り量が少ない楽器はまず間違い無く長持ちしない楽器と判断して問題ありません。

This is a setup for a Fender Mexico Stratocaster.

You mentioned you bought it brand new, but the string action is quite high, making it difficult to play.

There’s very little truss rod adjustment left, and if you continue playing it in this condition right out of the box, I don’t think it will last very long.

Nowadays, the strength of the wood is significantly inferior to what it used to be, so even brand-new guitars often warp significantly under string tension. Since the truss rod is used to straighten them out, a lot of adjustment is used up right from the start.
That’s why many brand-new guitars have very little truss rod adjustment left.

Naturally, in this condition, the neck will continue to bow forward as you play, and once it exceeds the range that can be corrected by adjusting the truss rod, the instrument is beyond repair.
Since buying an instrument with little truss rod adjustment range right out of the box is essentially the point of purchasing such an instrument, you’ll be wasting your money if you don’t have the dealer adjust it correctly right in front of you before buying—and let you turn the truss rod yourself to check the remaining adjustment range.

Aシリアルのモデルです。

長年倉庫に閉まっていたとの事で各所が汚れています。

ジャック不良があるので新品に交換しましたが音は安定して出ております。
動作確認＋調整してみて使えるかチェックしたいとの事でセットアップしてみましたが特に問題無さそうです。

また音が非常に良い個体で、当時は数万円でかなり良い個体が普通に購入できた良い時代です。

別にフェンダージャパンの初期シリアルだからとか関係無く2000年代辺りまでのフェンダージャパンの数万円モデルでもかなり良いのでお勧めです。

This is a jack replacement and setup for a Fender Japan Stratocaster.

It’s an A-serial model.

It had been stored in a warehouse for many years, so it’s dirty in various places.

The jack was faulty, so I replaced it with a new one, and the sound is now stable.
The owner wanted me to test the functionality and adjust it to see if it was usable, so I performed a setup, and it seems to be working fine.

It’s also a guitar with excellent tone. Back then, it was a great era when you could easily buy a really good Fender Japan model for just a few tens of thousands of yen.

Regardless of whether it’s an early Fender Japan serial number or not, even the Fender Japan models from around the 2000s that cost a few tens of thousands of yen are quite good, so I highly recommend them.
