お客様の要望でステンレスフレットに交換です。

ボリュームポットのガリで交換しました。

ニッケルシルバーからステンレスフレットに交換すると音が硬くなります。

昔は音が「キンキン」すると言われていましたが、近年のステンレスフレットは金属の材質が変わったのかあまりキンキンはしないがハイが痛い傾向よりもミドルが硬い傾向になっています。
ローズ指板がエボニー指板になった様な硬さが出る音になります。

実際に削ってても分かりますが、昔よりも金属粒子が大きい？のか、手に伝わる感覚なので言葉にするのは難しいですがステンレスフレットは硬くて削れ難いとは言え昔はサクサクと乾いた削れ具合だったと思うのですが、近年のステンレスフレットはゴリゴリとした粒子が大きく粘りがある金属になっている気がします。

その辺りが音に影響が出ていると思います。
昔よりは音の痛みが出ない分、音の面ではステンレスフレットも使用し易い事になったと思いますので交換時の参考にして下さい。

This is a fret and pot replacement on a PRS Custom24.

At the customer’s request, we replaced the frets with stainless steel ones.

We also replaced the volume pot due to a scratchy sound.

Switching from nickel silver to stainless steel frets makes the tone harder.

In the past, people used to say the sound was “ringy,” but with recent stainless steel frets—perhaps due to a change in the metal composition—they don’t sound quite as ringy; instead of having piercing highs, the midrange tends to be harder.
The sound takes on a hardness similar to that of an ebony fingerboard instead of a rosewood one.

You can tell just by filing them—perhaps the metal particles are larger than they used to be? It’s hard to put into words since it’s a sensation transmitted through the hands, but while stainless steel frets are hard and difficult to file, I recall that in the past they filed away crisply and dryly. However, I feel that recent stainless steel frets have larger, gritty particles and a more viscous texture.

I believe this is what’s affecting the sound.
Since they don’t produce as much harshness as they used to, I think stainless steel frets have become easier to use in terms of sound, so please keep this in mind when replacing them.

PRS製Custom24のネック折れリペア・セットアップです。

6弦側にひび割れが起きている状態です。
PRSは材の状態が良く乾燥も良好なので杢目に割れる事が多いです。

お客様との相談で接着で対処しました。過去に一度折れている事もあるそうで、もしかするとその割れがきっかけて折れてしまった事も考えられます。

フレット状態が全体の消耗であまり良くない状態の為、次回はすり合わせがお勧めです。

PRS Custom 24 Neck Break Repair and Setup.

The crack is located on the 6th string side.
PRS guitars often split along the grain due to the high-quality wood and excellent drying process.

After consulting with the customer, we addressed it with adhesive. It seems the neck may have broken once before, and that previous crack could have been the trigger for this break.

The overall fret condition is not ideal due to wear, so we recommend refretting next time.

中古購入したばかりで音がおかしいと持ち込まれました。正常動作しない状態です。

内部をチェックしてみると配線のミスがあり、内部が素人いじりされている様子です。

中古品は前オーナーの雑な作業がされている事も多いので基本は電装パーツ全交換が基本です。

配線ミスの箇所のみを直し、問題無く音が出る様になりました。

こうした状態は部分的に直しても他の箇所でいずれトラブルが起こるかと思います。
その都度直すか、最初に全て直すかはお客様の判断に任せますが中古品は見えない所に不具合を抱えているかもしれない知識は持った上で購入されると良いでしょう。

This is a rewiring job for a PRS SE Custom 24.

The customer brought it in shortly after purchasing it used, complaining of strange sounds. It was not functioning properly.

Upon checking the internals, we found wiring errors and signs of amateur tampering inside.

Since used instruments often have sloppy work from previous owners, a full replacement of all electrical components is generally recommended.

We corrected only the faulty wiring section, and it now produces sound without issues.

In such cases, fixing only part of the problem may lead to future issues elsewhere.
Whether to fix things as they arise or address everything initially is up to the customer. However, it’s wise to purchase used instruments knowing they might harbor hidden problems in unseen areas.

お客様のでPU交換し配線ミスしている状態です。

また付いているロータリースイッチをトグルスイッチに変更し交換します。

PUはセイモアダンカン製オメガに交換されています。

音が硬くタイトで形が見え易いサウンドです。歪みには良い音質と思います。

サドルのビスが錆びて回らない状態だが弦高は整っているので使用する事に問題はありませんが交換した方が良い状態です。

クリーンは硬めでフロントはブーミーにならない太さとソロ弾きの音抜けが良いです。

センターは厚みがあるが音抜けが良く扱い易いサウンドで良さげです。

リアはギラつきがなく聞き易いのでどのポジションもサウンド面では良い印象のPUでした。

Replacing the selector switch on a PRS Custom 24.

The customer replaced the pickups and made a wiring mistake.

We will also replace the existing rotary switch with a toggle switch.

The pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncan Omegas.

The sound is hard and tight, with a clear, well-defined tone. I think it sounds good with distortion.

The saddle screws are rusted and won’t turn, but the string height is set correctly, so it’s usable. However, it’s in a condition where replacement is recommended.

The clean tone is firm. The front pickup has a thick tone without being boomy, and it has good projection for soloing.

The middle pickup has a thick tone but also good projection, making it a manageable and pleasant sound.

The rear pickup has no harshness and is easy on the ears. Overall, it was a pickup with a good impression in terms of sound across all positions.

お客様の要望で電装系を新品に交換しました。
低価格帯をまず音を良くする方法として、現在付いている電装パーツのグレードアップが基本的なスタート地点です。
電装パーツを良くするにプラスして丁寧なハンダ付け作業を行う事としてかなり音質が良く変化します。

交換後は音が太く柔らかくなり、安物パーツ＋大量生産の作業精度はパワー感が出なく音が細い傾向になりがちです。

またトラスロッドが最初から殆ど限界状態です。

新品購入なのか中古購入なのかは不明ですが、殆どの楽器屋は買う人の事を考えて商売はしておりません。
その証拠にトラスロッドの余り量や効き具合を表記した上で販売している所はまずありません。
なので購入時は状態を疑って、相手に目の前で状態を確認させてからでないと買ってはいけません。
本来はその辺りを事前に検品チェックし公表してれば済む事です。
その辺りが非常に雑な業界でもあるので、消費者側が指示して面倒を楽器屋に与えていかないと業界全体が良い方向へ変わりません。

This is a rewiring and setup of a PRS SE Custom 24.

At the customer’s request, we replaced the electrical components with new ones.
As a way to improve the sound quality of a low-priced guitar, upgrading the existing electrical components is a basic starting point.
In addition to upgrading the electrical components, careful soldering work can significantly improve the sound quality.

After the replacement, the sound becomes fuller and softer. However, using low-quality parts combined with mass-production assembly precision tends to result in a lack of power and a thin sound.

Additionally, the truss rod is already nearly at its limit from the start.

Whether the guitar was purchased new or used is unclear, but most music stores do not prioritize the buyer’s interests in their business practices.
As evidence, few stores specify the remaining travel or effectiveness of the truss rod when selling the instrument.
Therefore, when purchasing, you should inspect the condition yourself and have the seller confirm it in front of you before making a decision.
Ideally, these details should be inspected and disclosed beforehand.
Since this industry is quite lax in such matters, consumers must take the initiative to demand transparency and hold stores accountable to drive positive change across the industry.

PRS SE製カスタム24のブリッジパーツ交換＆セットアップです。

john mannという、元PRS社員？の方が独立しPRS用のパーツを製作・販売している様子です。

今回はSE用に取り付けできるブラス製のPRSブリッジに交換です。

パーツは少しオリジナルと異なる所があります。

付属しているスプリングですが元のスプリングと違い、先端が曲がっていて奥まで入らないタイプです。

フェンダーストラト等と違い、簡単に奥に入れる事ができません。

通常はスポスポ簡単に付け外しできるのが正常の状態です。

恐らく叩いて入れてスプリングの固定を強くすると思うのですが（その場合は簡単に抜けなくなるので交換が困難となる）、よく分からない以上はこちらの判断で取付は行えないのでお客様の作業許可が必要になります。

一度お客様の方に確認頂いて、お客様の指示で作業する待ちとなりました。

一度は確認する為に持ち帰って頂きましたがこの状態でも一応は使えそうではあります。

お客様に問い合わせてもらい、メーカーからも叩いて圧入すると連絡を貰えたとの事なので圧入し取り付けました。

圧入自体も結構固めな印象があり、恐らくこの状態だと手や工具で簡単にスプリングは外せない位に硬く入ると思います。
なので交換時は困難になるかもしれません。

Youtubeでも語っていますがスプリングは音がかなり変わるので、圧入後からロウヴィンテージに交換したりESPスプリングに交換したりまたは混在させたりとカスタムが簡単にはできなくなりますので注意が必要です。

付属してる6点支持用ビスはチャリチャリと鳴る音でこちらは恐らくロウヴィンテージに交換した後の様な音質変化が起こると思います。
ノーマルのビスはゴツゴツと重たい鳴りをします。

その逆に付属スプリングは意外と重たいコツコツとした音で、ノーマルで付いてるスプリングの方がロウヴィンテージみたいなチャリチャリとした響きに近いです。
この辺りもあってスプリングは交換して音を様々試した方が良い気がします。圧入するとこの辺りが気軽に交換できなくなります。

凄いザックリですが端から端のビス穴で42ｍｍ、この形状に合えばストラト用にも交換できる？がアームの貫通穴は拡張する必要があります。
何かしら参考になれば。

交換後は通常のSE製と違い音がかなり良い方向に変化しました。
金属パーツで音は大きく変化しますが、ブリッジだけでもここまで大きく音が変化するのは驚きです。

エレキギターらしい硬くギラギラした響きが全然出てこないのでリアの音が化けます。
音の硬い嫌味が綺麗に取れるので、プレーン弦の響きが自然なアコースティック感というのかエレキギターっぽさが減って良くなります。

音の太さも上がる為、コイルタップでも音が太く存在感が大きくなります。
タップ時も高域の雑味が取れて良いサウンドに変化します。

今回はお客様の要望でサドルだけは交換されておらず、サドルだけはノーマルの物を使用しての音変化でした。
サドルも交換すると音がより柔らかくなると思いますが、その音色は好みです。

ただブラス製サドルは本家ＰＲＳと同じく摩耗が早くなり、サドルに弦痕が付いてチューニングが安定しなくなったり弦が切れ易くなる等の悪影響が出てきます。
その辺りも音と耐久性の面でどちらを取るか悩む所はあるかと思います。

それなりに値段がするパーツですが、こちらに交換するとSEでもかなり良い方向に音質が良くなるのでお勧めの改造パーツです。

お客様の持ち込みパーツで配線は全交換、ケントアームストロング製WPU900に交換しました。

ナット消耗・フレット音詰まり箇所があり状態が悪いです。
中古品は問題があって手放す事も多い為、中古品を購入する際は状態が悪いものと思って購入した方が良いです。

ナットを交換しフレットをすり合わせ問題が無い状態に仕上げました。

音が太く柔らかいサウンドで、そのままP-90の音ではありませんがやや明るくP-90よりは扱い易いサウンドに思います。
ハムバッカーから出る様なサウンドで無いので、低価格帯でP-90寄りのサウンドにしたい際はお勧めのPUです。

This is a PRS SE Custom 24 with nut replacement, fret grating, and rewiring.

All wiring was replaced with parts brought in by the customer and replaced with a Kent Armstrong WPU900.

It is in poor condition with a worn nut and fretted sound jammed area.
Used instruments are often given away due to problems, so it is best to assume that the used instrument is in poor condition when purchasing it.

The nut has been replaced and the frets have been grated to make it problem-free.

The sound is fat and soft, not like a P-90 as it is, but a little brighter and easier to handle than a P-90.
It does not sound like a humbucker, so if you are looking for a P-90 sound at a lower price point, this is the PU for you.

中古購入との事ですが状態が悪いです。
メルカリで購入するのは本当に危なく、悪い言い方しかできませんが無料でしか行動できない人は質が低いです。
そんな人達が集まる場なので買う際は基本的に説明はウソだと思った方が良いです。
メルカリよりはヤフオクの方がマシです。

ナットの巻き弦が死にかけで音が詰まる寸前、プレーン弦側が高い状態です。
最初からこのパターンもありますが巻き弦はギザギザしているのでプレーン弦より消耗が早いです。

フレットで音詰まり気味箇所がある状態です。
初期状態が悪い個体もありますがPRS SEはこれまで触った情報として比較的に少ない印象はあります。

どちらにしても中古品を買うのはリスクがあるので、それを回避する為には知識を付けて品定めできる状態になる事と、ネットで買うなら品定めできないので状態が悪い物が届いたとしても許容する位が必要です。

This is a PRS SE Custom 24 setup.

It is in poor condition, although I understand that it was purchased used.
Buying on Mercari is really dangerous, and I can only say it in a bad way, but people who can only act for free are of low quality.
It is a place where such people gather, so you should basically assume the description is a lie when buying.
Yahoo auctions are better than Mercari.

The wound strings on the nut are dying, the sound is on the verge of being choked, and the plain string side is high.
This pattern is possible from the beginning, but wound strings are jagged and wear out faster than plain strings.

The fretted strings are in a state where the sound is clogged up.
There are some units with bad initial condition, but I have the impression that PRS SE is comparatively little as the information I have touched so far.

I am not sure if it is a good idea to buy a used one or not, but it is a risk to buy a used one, so in order to avoid it, you need to have knowledge and be able to evaluate the condition of the instrument.

お客様ご自身でナット交換されており溝高が高い状態で弾き難いです。

溝切り済みナットは基本的に本体に合った高さになりませんので、必ず溝切りを行って合わせないと弦高が高く弾き難い状態になります。

溝切りを行う事で弾き易い状態となりました。

PRS純正PUに交換されていて音が良いです。
純正PUは高価であまり中古でも出回らないので珍しいPUでもあります。

PRS SE製カスタム24のPU交換です。

リア81を85に交換です。ハンダ付けタイプの古いモデルになります。

音のミドル感が柔らかくなり、フロントの85とバランスが良くなって扱い易くなりました。
PUの組み合わせは好みですが81はミドルが出て歪み用な音ですので、バランスが良いのは85になります。

歪ませるとやや曇った古いサウンドが出るので、イメージとしてはヴィンテージギターの様なサウンドでアクティブPUという感じもしません。
昔のEMGは明らか音が良いので、現行品と違う点があるかもしれません。

This is a PU replacement for a Custom 24 made by PRS SE.

Rear 81 is replaced with 85. It is an old soldering type model.

The middle of the sound has been softened and the balance with the front 85 has been improved, making it easier to handle.
The 81 has a middle sound and is for distortion, so the 85 has a better balance.

When distorted, it has a slightly cloudy old sound, so it sounds like a vintage guitar in my image, and it does not feel like an active PU.
The old EMGs obviously sound better, so there may be some differences from the current product.
