僕も昔は、Fコードがどうしても押さえられなくて、何度も練習をやめようと思ったことがあります。あの人差し指一本で全ての弦を押さえる感覚、本当に難しいですよね。

でも、諦めないでください！ Fコードは、ギターを弾く上で避けては通れない、でも乗り越えれば必ず大きな自信につながる壁なんです。
今回は、僕自身の苦い経験と、これまでたくさんの初心者の方を見てきた経験をもとに、Fコードがどうしても押さえられない！ と悩んでいるあなたのために、必ず克服できる練習方法と、ちょっとした裏技を伝授します！

～なぜFコードは難しいのか？～

まず、Fコードがなぜこんなにも多くのギター初心者を悩ませるのか、その理由をいくつか見ていきましょう。

But don’t give up! The F chord is an unavoidable obstacle in playing the guitar, but if you can overcome it, it will surely lead to a great confidence boost.
This time, based on my own bitter experience and the experiences of many beginners I have met, I would like to explain how to play the F chord! I’m going to share with you some tips and tricks that will surely help you overcome this obstacle!

Let me introduce my recommended practice method for overcoming the F chord, step by step. Don’t be in a hurry, and carefully complete each step one by one.

Step 1: Start by stretching your fingers
Finger flexibility is very important when playing the guitar, so make it a habit to stretch your fingers before starting to practice the F chord.

Warp each finger one at a time: Slowly warp or bend each finger toward the palm of your hand.
Goo-pah exercise: Repeat the goo and par motions to loosen the muscles of the entire palm.
Finger rotations: Slowly rotate your fingers in a circular motion, starting at the base of the fingers.
Continuing to do these stretches daily will increase the range of motion of your fingers and make it easier to hold down the F chord.

Step 2: Become accustomed to holding down all the strings with a single index finger.
First, try holding down all the strings with only one index finger, which is the core of the F chord.

Step 3: Try adding other fingers (start with the abbreviated form)
If it is difficult to suddenly press a regular F chord, try the abbreviated F chord first.

Use your index finger to hold only the first and second strings at the first fret.
Hold the third string at the second fret with your middle finger and the fourth string at the third fret with your ring finger.
Try to play each string in this state and check if the sound is clean.
This abbreviated F chord should be relatively easier to hold than the normal F chord, with less finger stretch. Let’s start by getting a feel for the F chord in this form.

Step 4: Try the regular F chord!

Press all the strings on the first fret firmly with the index finger.
Press the third string on the second fret with your middle finger, the fifth string on the third fret with your ring finger, and the fourth string on the third fret with your little finger.
Be aware that each finger should not mute the other strings by touching them, and be aware that all strings should sound cleanly while fine-tuning the angle and position of your fingers.

Tips for overcoming the obstacles 2] ★ Move your thumb slightly toward the index finger side of the neck, rather than the center of the back side of the neck, so that you can put more pressure on the index finger. Also, if you are conscious of squeezing your elbow slightly inward, it will be easier to apply even force to the entire finger.

Step 5: Practicing chord changes
Once you are able to hold the F chord, the next step is to practice smooth chord changes with other chords.

First, it is recommended to practice alternating between the C chord (ring finger on the 5th string at the 3rd fret, middle finger on the 4th string at the 2nd fret, and index finger on the 2nd string at the 1st fret) and the F chord, which is easier to hold.

At first, use a slower tempo and focus on pressing the chord accurately. As you get used to it, gradually increase the tempo.

★ [Tip 3 for overcoming difficulties] ★ Be conscious not to take your fingers off the fingerboard too far during chord changes. If you can imagine moving your fingers while keeping some of their shape, it will lead to smooth chord changes.

■But it’s still difficult…a trick for those times when you just can’t get it right.

Use a capotast: Attach a capotast to the second fret and play the F chord in the form of an E chord. This is a temporary solution, but it will help you get used to the sound of the F chord.
