  • ギブソン製サンダーバードのPU交換です。

    元はグレコ製PUが付いているとの事ですが、こちらからエピフォン製PUへ交換です。

    音が太くパワーがあるサウンドになりました。
    エピフォン製PUはサンダーバードの定番PU交換の様子ですがパワフルで低域が鳴るのでアンサンブル上で良いベースサウンドになると思います。

    This is a pickup replacement for a Gibson Thunderbird.

    I was told it originally had Greco pickups, but I replaced them with Epiphone pickups.

    The sound is now rich and powerful.
    While Epiphone pickups are a standard choice for Thunderbird replacements, they’re powerful and deliver strong low-end response, so I think they’ll provide a great bass sound in an ensemble setting.

  • モモセ製MJのナット交換です。

    今回はハイC仕様にする為にナット交換です。

    ハイC仕様とは通常の4弦に高音弦が付く仕様になりますので、通常の5弦ベースの様にLow-Bでなく高音弦のHigh-Cが付きます。

    通常のナット溝だと弦幅が大きく異なり、開放弦の異音や弦高が狂うので交換が必要になります。

    ナットを作り直し仕上げました。

    Replacing the nut on a Momose-made MJ.

    This time, I’m replacing the nut to convert it to a High-C configuration.

    A High-C configuration adds a high-pitched string to the standard four-string setup, so instead of a Low-B like on a standard five-string bass, it features a High-C string.

    Since the string width differs significantly from standard nut slots, this can cause buzzing on open strings and throw off the string action, making a replacement necessary.

    I’ve remade and finished the nut.

  • PRS SE製CE24のセットアップです。

    ネック反り等を適切に整え弾き易く仕上げました。

    音が良い個体な上に中古購入との事ですが殆ど新品状態です。

    PUが他のSE製と違う？のか、音がクリアで抜けが良いのでかなり良い個体でした。

    Here is the setup for a PRS SE CE24.

    I’ve properly adjusted the neck curvature and other factors to make it comfortable to play.

    Not only does it have great tone, but even though it was purchased used, it’s in almost brand-new condition.

    Perhaps the pickups are different from other SE models? The sound is clear and projects well, so it’s a really great guitar.

  • グレッチ製6120の配線直し・セットアップです。

    90年代の古いモデルで穴が増設されている状態です。

    お客様の要望でトーンセレクター（コンデンサ切り替え）、トーンコントロールの配置をした電装になりました。

    トーン（コンデンサを切り替え音質が変わる）が切り替えられ、ポットでコントロールできる様になり扱い易い状態になったと思います。

    音もクリアで澄んだ音で、パワーが無いからと思いますが非常にナチュラルなサウンドでエレキギターっぽい硬さが出ないのでとても良いサウンドです。

    フレットが浮き気味でフレット状態悪い為、グレッチは精度が悪いモデルが多いですがフレット交換で直す必要がありそうです。

    This is a rewiring and setup job for a Gretsch 6120.

    It’s an older model from the 90s that has had additional holes drilled into it.

    At the customer’s request, I reconfigured the electronics to include a tone selector (capacitor switch) and a tone control.

    Now that the tone (which changes depending on the selected capacitor) can be switched and controlled via a pot, I think it’s much easier to use.

    The tone is clear and crisp. While it lacks power, it has a very natural sound without the harshness often associated with electric guitars, making it a great-sounding instrument.

    The frets are slightly loose and in poor condition. Since many Gretsch models are known for their lack of precision, it looks like a fret replacement will be necessary to fix this.

  • ムーン製PGM、プレシジョンベースの配線直し・セットアップです。

    ＰＧＭ期のモデルですが音がおかしい状態です。

    チェックしてみるとフロントPUが壊れており、内部をチェックするとシングルコイルサイズハムバッカーＰＵが付いていました。

    こちらのモデルはスイッチポットでタップができる仕様です。
    リアもコイルタップできるシングルコイルです。

    お客様と状態の相談の上、パーツを全交換する形となりました。
    フロントＰＵはハムバッカー状態で使用できないのでシングルコイル状態で配線する事にしました。

    かなり古いモデルだが使用に特に問題無く仕上げる事ができました。

    This is a rewiring and setup job for a Moon PGM Precision Bass.

    Although it’s a PGM-era model, the sound was off.

    Upon inspection, the front pickup was found to be broken, and upon checking the interior, we discovered a single-coil-sized humbucker pickup installed.

    This model is designed to allow coil tapping via the switch pot.
    The rear pickup is also a single-coil pickup capable of coil tapping.

    After discussing the situation with the customer, we decided to replace all the parts.
    Since the front pickup cannot be used in humbucker mode, we rewired it to function as a single-coil pickup.

    Although it is a fairly old model, we were able to finish the work without any particular issues.

    順反りして弦高が高い状態、電装パーツをEMG・プリアンプ搭載から元のパッシブ仕様に戻す内容です。

    元のパーツはお客様の要望で流用する形となりました。
    古い電装パーツなのでガリ等が発生しておりますが音を出すには問題無さそうです。

    This is a rewiring and setup job for a 1970s Fender USA Jazz Bass.

    The neck was bowing backward, causing high string action. The project involved reverting the electronics from the EMG pickups and preamp to the original passive configuration.

    At the customer’s request, we reused the original parts.
    Since the electronics are old, there is some crackling, but it doesn’t seem to affect the sound.

  • トーカイ製テレキャスターのポット交換・セットアップです。

    お客様の持ち込みでポットをCTSに交換しました。

    元々は国産ポットが付いており、昔から何度も同じギターを調整してきましたがポットが変わるだけでも音が太くなり音抜けも良くなりました。

    国産ポットも悪くはありませんが、電装パーツは性能＝値段な所もあります。

    音は所詮は好みですが、電装パーツは値段が高い物は音も良い傾向です。
    配線材等は好みで選択して問題無いですが、ポットは好みでCTSかボーンズの二択かと思います。

    Pot Replacement and Setup for a Tokai Telecaster.

    The customer brought in the guitar, and we replaced the pots with CTS ones.

    It originally came with Japanese-made pots, and although I’ve adjusted this same guitar many times over the years, simply changing the pots made the tone fuller and improved the sound projection.

    Japanese-made pots aren’t bad, but with electronic components, performance often correlates with price.

    Sound is ultimately a matter of personal preference, but with electronic components, higher-priced parts tend to produce better sound.
    You can choose wiring and other materials based on your preference, but when it comes to pots, I think it boils down to a choice between CTS and Bones.

  • モーリス製F-12の弦高調整です。

    順反り・トップ浮きで弦高が高い状態です。
    弦高が12フレット上で5ｍｍ程度はあり、弾けるレベルじゃないです。

    またサドルが割れている状態、ナット高も高く状態も良くありません。
    トラスロッドが全然効かないのでネック反り調整にも限度があります。

    サドルを加工し全体の弦高を2.5ｍｍにはでき弾けるレベルに仕上げる事ができました。

    ナット溝切り調整も行えば更に弦高が下がるので、より弾き易い状態を求めたら次はナット溝切り調整をお勧めします。

    Adjusting the string height on a Morris F-12.

    The neck is bowing forward and the top is lifting, resulting in high string action.
    The string height at the 12th fret is about 5 mm, which makes the guitar unplayable.

    Additionally, the saddle is cracked, and the nut height is too high, so the condition is not good.
    Since the truss rod has no effect at all, there is a limit to how much the neck bow can be adjusted.

    By reshaping the saddle, I was able to lower the overall string height to 2.5 mm and bring it to a playable condition.

    If you also have the nut grooves adjusted, the string height will drop even further, so if you’re looking for an even more playable setup, I recommend having the nut grooves adjusted next.

  • タカミネ製PT407のジャック交換です。

    ジャックに接触不良があり音が出なくなる時があるとの事です。

    小型ボディだが低音がしっかりと出て音抜けも良い名機です。
    これは驚きですがかなり良いモデルと思いますのでチェックして下さい。

    フレット等がかなり消耗している状態、全体的に減っており音詰まりは起きていないですがいずれフレット交換かすり合わせが必要な状態です。

    Replacing the jack on a Takamine PT407.

    The customer reported that the jack sometimes has poor contact, causing the sound to cut out.

    Despite its compact body, this is a legendary model that delivers solid bass tones and excellent projection.
    I was surprised by this, but I think it’s a really great model, so please take a look.

    The frets are quite worn; they’ve worn down overall, but there’s no buzzing yet. However, it will eventually require a fret replacement or a fret leveling.

  • Jackson USA American Series Rhoads RR24 ブリッジ溝切り＆セットアップ

    ジャクソン製RR24のブリッジ溝切り・セットアップです。

    ブリッジ側で全ての弦が切れ易いとの事で持ち込まれました。
    新品弦でも弾いてて1曲弾けない位、すぐに切れる場合もあるそうです。

    近年はパーツの品質が低下傾向により、有名で高価なパーツでも昔と比べ品質が悪い印象があります。
    昔はこうした「弦が切れ易い」は安物パーツ（無メーカー品のペグやブリッジ）に多かったのですが、近年は高価な新品ペグやブリッジにも起こったりします。

    全てのサドルの弦が当たる箇所がとにかく荒いので削って対処しました。
    こうした溝があるサドルは明らか角がきつく、弦に対し鋭利な箇所を当てているので切れ易くなると思います。
    実際に削ると良く分かりますが、かなりVの字と角張ったRになっています。

    削って丸めるだけでも弦高が大きく変わる位、それだけサドル溝が鋭利な角になっています。

    削って整えた後は調整し、しばらく弾いて確認させましたが特に切れたりする事は無さそうです。
    音がクリアで歪みの乗りも良いモデルです。
    日本ではまだ数少ないモデルの様子で珍しい個体の様です。

    This is a bridge slot cutting and setup for a Jackson RR24.

    The guitar was brought in because all the strings were breaking easily on the bridge side.
    Apparently, even with brand-new strings, they would break so quickly that the player couldn’t even finish a single song.

    In recent years, the quality of parts has been on a downward trend, and even well-known, expensive parts seem to be of poorer quality compared to the past.
    In the past, this “prone to breaking” issue was common with cheap parts (unbranded tuners or bridges), but recently it has started occurring even with expensive, brand-new tuners and bridges.

    The areas where the strings contact all the saddles were extremely rough, so I filed them down to resolve the issue.
    Saddles with grooves like these clearly have sharp edges, and since they’re making contact with the strings at sharp points, I believe this makes them prone to breaking.
    Once you actually file them down, you can clearly see that the grooves form a pronounced V-shape with sharp, angular edges.

    Just filing them down to round them off significantly changes the string height—that’s how sharp the edges of the saddle grooves are.

    After filing and smoothing them, I adjusted the setup and played it for a while to check, and it doesn’t seem to be causing any string breaks.
    It’s a model with a clear tone and great distortion response.
    It appears to be a rare model in Japan, with very few units available.
