ジェームスタイラー製ヴァリアックスの不具合チェックです。

中古で購入したとの事ですがエフェクトONにならない状態です。

チェックしてみると電装系は問題無く、付いてるノブに不具合がありました。

ノブに不具合があり、ON時に押し込む際にノブが干渉してスイッチをしっかりと押せない事が原因で電源を入れる事ができません。

ヴァリアックスは持ち込まれる事も少なく、電装の修理も過去に触った機会も少ないのですが付いてるノブは前オーナーにより壊れている？のかノブの爪が折れている様子です。
これが正常なのかは分かりませんがノブの高さが変わらない様に付けれないとスイッチを押せなくなります。

スイッチを押す→ノブ本体が下に下がる→再度スイッチを押すとノブが底面にぶつかり電源スイッチをしっかり押せずONにできない、となります。

恐らくノブが一定の位置で固定できる様な形状（これはノブの爪が折れて不可になっている様子）の様子で、もしくはOリングの様なノブの位置を固定する様な支えが内部に必要です。

電装自体は問題無くノブ本体に問題があり電源ONがやり難い状態でした。
新品の専用ノブに交換するか、内部に丁度良いサイズのOリングを挟むか、ノブ自体を外して使うか、ノブが下に下がらない様に優しくONするか、です。

This is a malfunction check for a James Tyler Variac.

It was purchased secondhand, but the effect does not turn on.

Upon checking, the electrical system was found to be fine, but there was a problem with the knob.

The knob was malfunctioning, and when turning it on, the knob interfered with the switch, preventing it from being pressed properly, which prevented the power from turning on.

The Variac is rarely brought in for repair, and I have had little experience with electrical repairs in the past, but the knob appears to be broken by the previous owner, with the knob’s claw broken.
I am unsure if this is normal, but if the knob cannot be attached in a way that keeps its height unchanged, the switch cannot be pressed.

When pressing the switch, the knob itself lowers, and when pressing the switch again, the knob hits the bottom surface, preventing the power switch from being fully pressed and turning on.

It appears that the knob needs to be fixed in a certain position (this seems impossible due to the broken claw), or an internal support like an O-ring is needed to fix the knob’s position.

The electrical components themselves are fine, but the knob itself is causing issues, making it difficult to turn the power on.
Options include replacing the knob with a new dedicated one, inserting an O-ring of the appropriate size inside, removing the knob entirely, or gently turning it on without letting it drop down.
