ギブソンカスタムショップ製ES-355の配線直し・セットアップです。

お客様持ち込みの中古カスタムバッカー、お客様持ち込みのボリュームポットに300ｋΩ・トーンポットにＢカーブ500ｋΩの組み込み依頼です。

ポットのKΩで音が変わるのでいろいろ試しても面白いと思いますが、こうした箱物は簡単にパーツ交換ができないので実験で試すにはお勧めできません（箱物は料金が割高になる為）。

Bカーブも好みではありますが、私はポット全てAカーブが良いと思っています。効き具合もＡカーブが良いと思います。

元は57classicが付いたモデルですがカスタムバッカーになると音がより柔らかくなり、300ｋΩボリュームポットも500ｋΩと比べ音の高域が丸くなりマイルド感が増えています。

Ｂカーブはやはり効き方がおかしくなるので回した時に扱い難い印象です。
またＣＴＳもメーカーの製造ミスがある様子で例えばＡカーブ表記でもポットの中身を間違えてＢカーブになっている様な効き方をする事もある為、正直メーカー自体にも期待しない方が良いかもしれません。
ｋΩも500ｋΩポットをテスターで測ってみると450ｋΩから500ｋΩの差もあったりする事もあるので品質はかなりバラつきがあると思います。

Customer-supplied used Custom Bucker. Request to install a 300kΩ volume pot and a B-curve 500kΩ tone pot.

While experimenting with different pot resistances can be interesting since it changes the sound, I don’t recommend doing this as an experiment on a body-mounted pickup because it’s not easy to swap parts on these (body-mounted pickups cost more to work on).

While B-curve is a matter of preference, I personally believe all pots should be A-curve. I also think A-curve provides better responsiveness.

Originally a model with a 57 Classic pickup, the Custom Backer gives a softer tone. The 300kΩ volume pot, compared to 500kΩ, rounds out the high frequencies, adding a milder feel.

B-curve pots do tend to feel oddly responsive, making them tricky to handle when turning.
Also, CTS seems to have manufacturing issues. For example, even if labeled as an A-curve, the pot inside might be a B-curve, resulting in that kind of response. Honestly, it might be best not to rely too much on the manufacturer itself.
Regarding kΩ values, when testing a 500kΩ pot with a multimeter, you might find values ranging from 450kΩ to 500kΩ. I think the quality varies quite a bit.
