PRS Custom24 ネック折れリペア＆セットアップ

PRS製Custom24のネック折れリペア・セットアップです。

6弦側にひび割れが起きている状態です。
PRSは材の状態が良く乾燥も良好なので杢目に割れる事が多いです。

お客様との相談で接着で対処しました。過去に一度折れている事もあるそうで、もしかするとその割れがきっかけて折れてしまった事も考えられます。

フレット状態が全体の消耗であまり良くない状態の為、次回はすり合わせがお勧めです。

PRS Custom 24 Neck Break Repair and Setup.

The crack is located on the 6th string side.
PRS guitars often split along the grain due to the high-quality wood and excellent drying process.

After consulting with the customer, we addressed it with adhesive. It seems the neck may have broken once before, and that previous crack could have been the trigger for this break.

The overall fret condition is not ideal due to wear, so we recommend refretting next time.

PRS SE Custom24 配線直し＆セットアップ Fleor PUセット

PRS SE製カスタム24の配線直し・セットアップです。

PUに過去に私がお勧めしているFleorのPUセットに交換です。こちらは2個セットでも5000円程度のPUです。

安物PUですがGibson系の太くて音がはっきりとしない所を改良した様な音で扱い易くなります。

フロントは程好く太く、リアは厚みがあり硬さが少ないので5000円のPUとは思えないサウンドを感じると思います。

近年は低価格帯のPUも音質が非常に良い事が分かり勧めておりますが、有名所のPUメーカーが値上がりで高価過ぎるのも問題です。
この値段でこの音なら…と、そうしたPUになってきました。
低価格帯はそうした意味でも安くて音が良いので、有名所のPUは選択肢から外れてくると思います。

PRS SE Custom 24 rewiring and setup.

The pickups were replaced with the Fleor pickup set I previously recommended. This is a set of two pickups costing around ¥5,000.

Though budget pickups, they offer a sound that feels like an improvement over Gibson-style pickups—less thick and muddy, making them easier to handle.

The front pickup offers a nicely balanced thickness, while the rear pickup has good depth with less harshness. You won’t believe these are ¥5,000 pickups.

In recent years, I’ve come to recommend lower-priced pickups because their sound quality is surprisingly good. However, the problem is that famous pickup manufacturers have raised their prices, making them too expensive.
At this price point, with this sound… these pickups have become the go-to choice.
In that sense, the lower-priced options are both affordable and sound great, so I think famous brand pickups are starting to fall out of consideration.

PRS SE製Custom24の配線直しです。

中古購入したばかりで音がおかしいと持ち込まれました。正常動作しない状態です。

内部をチェックしてみると配線のミスがあり、内部が素人いじりされている様子です。

中古品は前オーナーの雑な作業がされている事も多いので基本は電装パーツ全交換が基本です。

配線ミスの箇所のみを直し、問題無く音が出る様になりました。

こうした状態は部分的に直しても他の箇所でいずれトラブルが起こるかと思います。
その都度直すか、最初に全て直すかはお客様の判断に任せますが中古品は見えない所に不具合を抱えているかもしれない知識は持った上で購入されると良いでしょう。

This is a rewiring job for a PRS SE Custom 24.

The customer brought it in shortly after purchasing it used, complaining of strange sounds. It was not functioning properly.

Upon checking the internals, we found wiring errors and signs of amateur tampering inside.

Since used instruments often have sloppy work from previous owners, a full replacement of all electrical components is generally recommended.

We corrected only the faulty wiring section, and it now produces sound without issues.

In such cases, fixing only part of the problem may lead to future issues elsewhere.
Whether to fix things as they arise or address everything initially is up to the customer. However, it’s wise to purchase used instruments knowing they might harbor hidden problems in unseen areas.

Paul Reed Smith PRS McCarty 594 フレットすり合わせ

ポールリードスミス製マッカーティのフレットすり合わせです。

大きな消耗でフレット全体が削れております。

フレットすり合わせを行い音詰まり箇所も無くなり弾き易く仕上げる事ができました。

PUが交換されている様子で全体的に音が柔らかく良いサウンドです。

元のPUだと音が明る過ぎて硬いと感じる人も多いと思いますが、ヴィンテージタイプのPUと愛称は良さそうに思いました。

Fret leveling on a Paul Reed Smith McCarty.

Significant wear had caused the entire fret surface to be worn down.

Fret leveling eliminated any buzzing spots, resulting in a smooth, playable finish.

The pickups appear to have been replaced, giving the overall sound a soft, pleasant tone.

Many might find the original pickups too bright and harsh, but vintage-style pickups seem like a good match.

PRS Custom22 セットアップ

PRS製カスタム22のセットアップです。

音がかなり良いモデルで、調整するとより良くなった事と思います。

太さと音抜けが良く、ハーフトーンの音の粘りが良くどのポジションのサウンドも良い傾向です。

22フレットと24フレットは特にフロントに違いがあり、22フレットはより指板側に近い位置にフロントPUを置けるので音的にも美味しい位置になります。

たったこの距離だけでも音は結構変わるので、24フレットも使用しないなら間違いなく22フレットの方がフロントは音が良いと言えます。

Setup for a PRS Custom 22.

This is a model with quite good sound, and I believe it improved even more after adjustment.

It has good thickness and projection, with excellent sustain in the half-tone range, and the sound tends to be good across all positions.

The 22nd and 24th frets show particular differences in the front pickup’s sound. Since the front pickup can be positioned closer to the fingerboard at the 22nd fret, it achieves a more musically satisfying tone.

Even this small distance makes a noticeable difference in sound. If you don’t use the 24th fret, the 22nd fret definitely produces a better front pickup sound.

PRS Custom24 セレクター交換ロータリースイッチをトグルスイッチに変更 SEYMOUR DUNCAN Mark Holcomb Alpha and Omega Pickup Set

PRS製カスタム24のセレクター交換です。

お客様のでPU交換し配線ミスしている状態です。

また付いているロータリースイッチをトグルスイッチに変更し交換します。

PUはセイモアダンカン製オメガに交換されています。

音が硬くタイトで形が見え易いサウンドです。歪みには良い音質と思います。

サドルのビスが錆びて回らない状態だが弦高は整っているので使用する事に問題はありませんが交換した方が良い状態です。

クリーンは硬めでフロントはブーミーにならない太さとソロ弾きの音抜けが良いです。

センターは厚みがあるが音抜けが良く扱い易いサウンドで良さげです。

リアはギラつきがなく聞き易いのでどのポジションもサウンド面では良い印象のPUでした。

Replacing the selector switch on a PRS Custom 24.

The customer replaced the pickups and made a wiring mistake.

We will also replace the existing rotary switch with a toggle switch.

The pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncan Omegas.

The sound is hard and tight, with a clear, well-defined tone. I think it sounds good with distortion.

The saddle screws are rusted and won’t turn, but the string height is set correctly, so it’s usable. However, it’s in a condition where replacement is recommended.

The clean tone is firm. The front pickup has a thick tone without being boomy, and it has good projection for soloing.

The middle pickup has a thick tone but also good projection, making it a manageable and pleasant sound.

The rear pickup has no harshness and is easy on the ears. Overall, it was a pickup with a good impression in terms of sound across all positions.

PRS SE製Custom24の配線直し・セットアップです。

お客様の要望で電装系を新品に交換しました。
低価格帯をまず音を良くする方法として、現在付いている電装パーツのグレードアップが基本的なスタート地点です。
電装パーツを良くするにプラスして丁寧なハンダ付け作業を行う事としてかなり音質が良く変化します。

交換後は音が太く柔らかくなり、安物パーツ＋大量生産の作業精度はパワー感が出なく音が細い傾向になりがちです。

またトラスロッドが最初から殆ど限界状態です。

新品購入なのか中古購入なのかは不明ですが、殆どの楽器屋は買う人の事を考えて商売はしておりません。
その証拠にトラスロッドの余り量や効き具合を表記した上で販売している所はまずありません。
なので購入時は状態を疑って、相手に目の前で状態を確認させてからでないと買ってはいけません。
本来はその辺りを事前に検品チェックし公表してれば済む事です。
その辺りが非常に雑な業界でもあるので、消費者側が指示して面倒を楽器屋に与えていかないと業界全体が良い方向へ変わりません。

At the customer’s request, we replaced the electrical components with new ones.
As a way to improve the sound quality of a low-priced guitar, upgrading the existing electrical components is a basic starting point.
In addition to upgrading the electrical components, careful soldering work can significantly improve the sound quality.

After the replacement, the sound becomes fuller and softer. However, using low-quality parts combined with mass-production assembly precision tends to result in a lack of power and a thin sound.

Additionally, the truss rod is already nearly at its limit from the start.

Whether the guitar was purchased new or used is unclear, but most music stores do not prioritize the buyer’s interests in their business practices.
As evidence, few stores specify the remaining travel or effectiveness of the truss rod when selling the instrument.
Therefore, when purchasing, you should inspect the condition yourself and have the seller confirm it in front of you before making a decision.
Ideally, these details should be inspected and disclosed beforehand.
Since this industry is quite lax in such matters, consumers must take the initiative to demand transparency and hold stores accountable to drive positive change across the industry.

PRS SE製カスタム24のナット溝切り調整・セットアップです。

お客様ご自身でナット交換されており溝高が高い状態で弾き難いです。

溝切り済みナットは基本的に本体に合った高さになりませんので、必ず溝切りを行って合わせないと弦高が高く弾き難い状態になります。

溝切りを行う事で弾き易い状態となりました。

PRS純正PUに交換されていて音が良いです。
純正PUは高価であまり中古でも出回らないので珍しいPUでもあります。

PRS製カスタム24のセットアップです。

順反りして弦高が高い状態です。22年製で比較的新しいモデルです。

セットアップで弾き易くなりました。

これだけ有名で高額なブランドも正しく調整できていないと弾き難いギターになります。

近年はPRSですらも木材の質が低下している様に思うので、古いモデルで塗装が白濁した見た目が悪い年代を探して買うのもお勧めです。
当時からその事にクレームを入れる素人が多かったそうですが、これは音が良い理由でもあります。
むしろ分かってる人は白濁したモデルを買います。
結果的に今は白濁はしなくなったけど昔より音は良くなくなった事になります。

何事もそうですが業界を悪くするのは知識が無い素人達が原因となる事も多いです。
ちゃんとしたメーカーの行動は信じる事です。
PRSは他メーカーと違いかなりイイ線入ってるブランドです。
素人が口を出して良いメーカーじゃないです。
もっと他に高額でダメな楽器を大量生産している所に口を出していかない所が本当に謎で理解不能です。
結局は何でも消費者の意識が高くならないと、自分達に使える良い物がどんどん減っていく形になります。

This is a PRS Custom 24 setup.

This is a relatively new model, made in ’22.

The setup makes it easy to play.

Even a famous and expensive brand like PRS can be difficult to play if it is not adjusted correctly.

In recent years, the quality of wood seems to have declined, even for PRS, so I would recommend looking for and buying an older model with a cloudy paint job and poor appearance.
I heard that many amateurs complained about it since those days, but this is also the reason why the sound is good.
Rather, people who know what they are doing buy the cloudy white models.
As a result, the sound is no longer cloudy, but it is not as good as it used to be.

As with anything, it is often the amateurs with no knowledge who are the cause of the industry’s problems.
You have to trust the actions of the proper manufacturers.
Unlike other manufacturers, PRS is a very good brand.
It is not a manufacturer that amateurs should talk about.
It is really a mystery and incomprehensible that they don’t speak out against other more expensive and bad instruments that are produced in large quantities.
In the end, unless consumers become more aware of everything, there will be fewer and fewer good products available to them.

PRS S2 Custom22 ポット交換＆セットアップ

PRS製S2 Custom22のポット交換・セットアップです。

ボリュームにガリがある状態なので新品ポットに交換しました。

順反りで弾き難いのを調整しました。

PRS製はSEでも弾き易い精度の良さがあり、調整さえしっかりと行えば価格に関係無く弾き易いギターになります。
新品でもこの辺りの調整がいい加減な状態で販売されている事も多い為、買ってすぐ調整して使用する事をお勧めします。
