  • トーカイ製ES-335のナット交換・セットアップです。

    ナットで音詰まりする状態です。

    ナットを新品に交換しセットアップする事で問題無い状態に修復できました。

    中古品や長年使用している楽器はナット・フレットが消耗し不具合が起きている事も多いです。
    それらは基本直して使用しないとまともな楽器として使用ができませんので要注意です。

    ただ上記の様に消耗品なので、基本は購入時に直す意識が必要です。

    This is a nut replacement and setup for a Tokai ES-335.

    The sound was clogged by the nut.

    By replacing the nut with a new one and setting up the instrument, we were able to restore it to a problem-free condition.

    Used instruments and instruments that have been used for many years often have problems with the nuts and frets due to wear and tear.
    These must be repaired before they can be used as a proper instrument, so please be careful.

    However, as mentioned above, they are consumable items, so you need to be aware of the need to fix them when you purchase the instrument.

    トーカイ製ES-335のネック折れリペアです。

    折れるのは今回で2回目との事（1回目は別のお店で修理した過去）です。

    何度か折れてしまうと当然ながら直せる可能性が低くなってくるのですが、折れ方・折れてる箇所によりその判断は異なります。
    どちらにしても折れてしまった際は下手に自分で手を加えない事、すぐに直す事が重要です。

    特に問題無く接着のみで直す事ができました。

    This is a broken neck repair for a Tokai ES-335.

    This is the second time it has been broken (the first time was repaired at another store).

    If it is broken several times, of course, the possibility of being able to fix it becomes low, but the decision depends on how it is broken and where it is broken.
    In either case, it is important not to do anything to the broken part by yourself and to fix it immediately.

    I was able to fix it with only gluing.

  • トーカイ製LG118Fのナット交換・セットアップです。

    ナット溝高が高いカーボンナットになっており、こちらを交換し適切なナット高に修正しました。

    ナットにもいくつか種類がありますが、カーボンやブラスが少ないのは単純に音が良くない事と加工コストが高いからになります。

    ナット高は音質の良さと弾き易さに直結する為、フレットと同じくかなり重要な箇所です。
    手作業でしっかり仕上げないといけない箇所でもあるので、大量生産のメーカー品は基本的に良くできていません。
    この辺りを新品でも直す事で全然違う音質と弾き易さになります。

    This is a nut replacement and setup for Tokai’s LG118F.

    The nut groove height was high with a carbon nut, which was replaced and corrected to the proper nut height.

    There are several types of nuts, but carbon and brass nuts are rarely used because they simply do not sound good and the processing cost is high.

    The nut height is directly related to the quality of sound and ease of playability, so it is a very important part, just like the frets.
    It is also a part that needs to be finished well by hand, so mass-produced manufacturer’s products are basically not well made.
    By fixing this area, even if it is brand new, the sound quality and playability will be completely different.

  • トーカイ製レスポールジュニアのセットアップです。

    オクターブの精度が良く、こうしたモデルは大体オクターブの精度が悪いのですが国産の良い部分が出ております。

    中古購入との事で、フロントPUの調整ビスが異常に硬い所は難点がありましたが特に使用する上では問題ありません。
    恐らく前オーナーが何か触って問題が起きたと思いますが、音は出るので問題はありません。

    This is a Tokai Les Paul Junior setup.

    The octave accuracy is good, which is one of the best features of Japanese-made Les Paul, although octave accuracy is usually poor on these models.

    The front PU adjustment screws are unusually hard, but there is no problem in using it.
    I think the previous owner probably touched something that caused the problem, but it sounds fine so there is no problem.

  • トーカイ製ストラトキャスターのフレット交換・ペグ交換です。

    フレット消耗で状態が悪い古い年代製のストラトです。

    当時の国産は非常に音質が良い物も多く、今の木材と違い剛性も高い物が多いので改造ベースとして最適です。
    一生モノの楽器を考えるなら素材選びは非常に重要で、状態が良い中古品を見つける事が重要です。

    ナット・フレット等の消耗品はいくらでも交換が効きますがネック反りだけは簡単に直せません。
    トラスロッドの調整で反りを直す事ができますが、トラスロッドが効く範囲は有限です。
    つまりはトラスロッドの余り量が一生・長い年月を使用し続ける上で重要な要素となります。

    木材は昔の方が剛性が高い物が多いのは事実で、ギター程度であれば弦を張りっぱなしでも反らなかった個体が多かったかもしれませんが現代では全然そんな剛性を持った個体の方が珍しいです。
    購入前にトラスロッドの余り量を確認する理由はそこにあります。

    例えばこうした80年代製の個体でトラスロッドの余り量が多い場合、この長い年月を状態が良いまま保持できた良い木材と判断できるからです。
    そうした個体はこれからも狂いが出ず状態が良くキープできる見込みが高いです。

    リペア後はネック剛性がありトラスロッドの余りも多い状態で仕上げる事ができました。

    こうした個体なら一生モノとして楽器を使用できる事でしょう。

    This is a Tokai Stratocaster fret replacement and peg replacement.

    This is an old Stratocaster in poor condition due to fret wear.

    Many of the domestic products of that time have very good sound quality, and unlike today’s wood, many of them have high rigidity, so they are ideal as a modified bass.
    If you are considering an instrument that will last a lifetime, it is very important to choose the right materials, and it is important to find a used one in good condition.

    Nuts, frets, and other consumable parts can be replaced as much as you like, but warped necks are not easy to fix.
    The warpage can be corrected by adjusting the truss rod, but the range in which the truss rod is effective is finite.
    In other words, the amount of truss rod left over is an important factor for a long lifetime of use.

    It is true that many woods were more rigid in the past, and many guitars might not warp even if the strings were left taut, but today such rigidity is rare.
    This is the reason why you should check the amount of truss rod left before purchasing a guitar.

    For example, if there is a large amount of extra truss rod left on an 80’s piece like this, you can be sure that it is good wood that has held up well over these many years.
    Such pieces have a good chance of remaining in good condition with no deviations in the future.

    After the repair, we were able to finish the neck rigid and with a lot of truss rod left over.

    This is the kind of instrument that will last a lifetime.

  • トーカイ製ES-335のセットアップです。

    2000年代と思われる個体です。
    弾き込まれているがトラスロッドの余り量も多い状態です。
    またナットが消耗で4弦が詰まりそうな状態です。
    ナットは4弦が一番消耗し易い為、古い年代製は基本ナット・フレットは状態が悪い物を思っていた方が良いです。

    音が良く、パワーがあまり無いので強弱が出易く音が良い個体です。
    結構2000年代頃までは国産も非常に良い物が多かったのですが、多くのプレイヤーがブランドでしか物の良し悪しを判断できない現実から良いブランドの衰退に繋がってしまっています。
    トーカイもその例外ではありません。
    国産には「昔は良かったのに」と思うブランドが数多く存在するのはその為です。

    This is a Tokai ES-335 setup.

    This unit is believed to be from the 2000s.
    It has been played but has a lot of truss rod left over.
    Also, the nut is worn out and the 4th string is almost jammed.
    The nut on the 4th string is the most susceptible to wear, so it is best to assume that the nut and frets are in poor condition for a guitar made in an older era.

    The sound is good, and the power is not too much, so it is easy to produce strength and weakness.
    However, the reality is that many players can only judge the quality of a product by its brand, and this has led to the decline of good brands.
    Tokai is no exception.
    This is the reason why there are many brands in the domestic market that I think “used to be good”.

    トーカイ製プレシジョンベースのPU交換・ノイズ対策処理です。

    PUはヴァンザント製ヴィンテージプラスに交換です。

    ノイズ処理塗料をザグリ内に塗る加工になります。
    ノイズ対策を行えばパッシブでもノイズに強い効果を得られますが反対に高域を削る結果となります。
    ノイズには強くなりますが音質と言う意味では劣化する事になります。

    ピックガード裏にはモントルーのピックガード用の大きいアルミテープを貼ってより対策しております。

    Youtube動画でも紹介したモデルですが加工前・加工後の状態が見れますので確認下さい。

    PU replacement and noise reduction treatment for Tokai Precision Bass.

    The PU is replaced with a Van Zandt Vintage Plus.

    Noise treatment paint is applied to the inside of the counterweight.
    Noise suppression will give a strong effect against noise even with a passive bass, but on the contrary, it will result in the reduction of the high frequency range.
    Although it is more resistant to noise, the sound quality will be degraded.

    We put a large aluminum tape for Montreux pickguard on the back of the pickguard to prevent this problem.

  • トーカイ製プレシジョンベースの配線直し・セットアップです。

    安物の電装パーツを全て交換しました。
    十万円台のベースですが中身は安物パーツが組まれております。

    新品だが大きな順反り状態で弾き難い状態です。
    ただトラスロッドがよく効くので、調整後でも余り量も多めでした。
    フェンダー系等はトラスロッドの効きがこうした国産と比べかなり範囲が狭い為、すぐにトラスロッド限界状態になっていきます。

    配線交換後は音が太過ぎず細過ぎずバランスが良いサウンドになりました。

    安物パーツは音が細くなる傾向にあるので、これが劣化の無い素の音になるかと思います。

    This is a rewiring and setup of a Tokai Precision bass.

    All cheap electrical parts have been replaced.
    This bass is in the 100,000 yen range, but the inside is made of cheap parts.

    It is a new bass, but it is hard to play because of the big warp.
    However, the truss rod works well, so even after adjustment, there was a lot of leftover.
    The truss rod of Fenders has a much narrower range of effectiveness than that of these domestic instruments, so the truss rod will soon reach its limit.

    After the wiring was replaced, the sound was not too thick nor too thin, but well balanced.

    Cheap parts tend to make the sound thinner, so I think this will be the true sound without any deterioration.

  • グランディー製レスポールの配線直し・セットアップです。

    正確にはTOKAI製の様子です。

    EMGに交換されている様ですが音が変という状態です。

    内部をチェックするとジャックの消耗、セレクター部分でノイズ対策塗料を塗ってるのにセレクター端子が壁に触れている様な状態でした。

    ノイズ対策がされていると、壁等はマイナス端子となります。
    つまりパーツのプラス端子が触れてしまうとショートし音が出なくなります。
    パーツ等の回転して壁に触れてしまう様な個所には予めテープ等を貼って端子を絶縁しておくとトラブルを回避できます。

    弦高が高く弾き難い状態を調整し弾き易く仕上げました。

    This is a rewiring and setup of a Les Paul made by Grundy.

    To be precise, it looks like it was made by TOKAI.

    It was replaced with an EMG, but the sound was strange.

    When we checked the inside, we found that the jack was worn out and the selector terminal was touching the wall even though the selector part was coated with anti-noise paint.

    When noise suppression paint is applied, the wall is a negative terminal.
    In other words, if the positive terminal of the part touches the wall, it will short-circuit and no sound will come out.
    To avoid this problem, tape or otherwise insulate the terminals in advance in places where they might rotate and touch the wall.

    The high string height made it difficult to play, but we adjusted the strings to make it easier to play.

  • トーカイ製LG-118Fのセットアップです。

    ヤフオクで購入したとの事で、トラスロッドが殆ど限界状態です。

    ネットで買っても楽器屋で買っても都合が悪い情報は隠して売ってるので自分で聞いてチェックさせないといけません。
    楽器屋では新品でもトラスロッドの余り量を表示させる様に皆様も声を上げて下さい。
    いずれ自分が状態の悪い個体を買う機会が増えていきます。

    調整上で問題は無いですが順反りすると調整できなくなるので今後は神経を使う状態です。

    ナットがカーボンに交換されているがナット高が高く弾き難いですが、それ以外は問題無しです。
