フェンダーUSA製プレシジョンベースの配線直し・セットアップです。

音が出なくなったり音がおかしいとの事で持ち込まれました。

ジャックの消耗が原因そうな事と、配線が素人作業されており全体的に不安な状態です。

ジャックを交換し素人ハンダ付け箇所を直してみたが音が細く、PUが断線している様な音です。

しかしPUはテスターでチェックしてみるとしっかりとkΩの反応があるのですが、明らかに音量が小さく細い音色です。

またPUを動かすと音が細くなったりする状態で、PU本体の根本も素人ハンダ付けされている状態でした。
もしかしたらPU本体の配線材も変えられているかもしれない様子です。
恐らく前オーナーがヴィンテージ配線やポット等を入手して後から交換した物？かもしれないです。
もしくはフルオリジナルに近い状態にして売ろうとした様な状態かもしれません。

PU本体の配線の交換、ハンダの付け直しを行ってみました。
それでもPUを押し込んだりして負荷を与えると音が細くなったりするのでもしかすると内部のコイルが切れ掛かっている状態なのかもしれないです。

ただPU本体に極端な負荷（PU本体を強く押し込む等）をしなければ現状では音が安定して出ているのですが、作業後は弾いてて音が細くなる事は無かったです。
しかし状態として不安なのでお客様にはPU交換を推奨しました。

後日、やはり音が細くなったりしましたのでPUを交換する事となりました。

ヴァンザント製ヴィンテージプラスに交換しました。

音がマイルドだが張りや明るさもあり、ピック弾き等でも暴れて音が細く聞こえる事も無いのでかなり優秀PUです。

モッサリし過ぎず、硬くて細くも聞こえない非常に良いバランスです。
いわゆるフェンダー的な音を安定して使い易くしたサウンドとなります。

ヴィンテージギター・ベースはどうしても状態が悪い事や古いパーツに価値がある事から意図的に手を加えて販売されている事も多いです。
状態が悪い事が大半なので、トラブルが起こる様であれば現行のパーツに交換が無難です。

This is a rewiring and setup of a Fender USA Precision Bass.

It was brought in because of a loss of sound or something wrong with the sound.

The jack seemed to be worn out and the wiring had been done by an amateur.

We replaced the jack and fixed the amateur soldering points, but the sound was thin and it sounded like the PU was disconnected.

However, when the PU is checked with a tester, there is a solid kΩ response, but the tone is clearly low in volume and thin.

Also, when the PU is moved, the sound becomes thinner. The root of the PU was also soldered by an amateur.
The wiring material of the PU may have been changed.
Perhaps the previous owner obtained vintage wiring, pots, etc. and replaced them later? Or, it may have been changed afterwards.
Or, it may be that the previous owner tried to sell it in a state close to the full original condition.

I tried replacing the wiring and re-soldering the PU itself.
However, when I push the PU into the guitar and give it a load, the sound becomes thinner, so it may be that the internal coil is on the verge of breaking.

However, if I do not put extreme load on the PU (e.g., pushing the PU hard), the sound is stable, but after the work, the sound does not become thin.
However, I recommended replacing the PU to the customer because of the uncertain state of the PU.

Later on, the sound was still thin, so we decided to replace the PU.

We replaced it with a Van Zandt Vintage Plus.

The sound is mild, but it has tension and brightness, and it doesn’t sound too thin when I play with a pick.

It is not too mushy, not too hard and not too thin sounding.

Vintage guitars and basses are often sold with some intentional modifications because of their poor condition and the value of old parts.
If you are having trouble with it, it is better to replace it with current parts.
