  • エピフォン製EB-3のセットアップです。

    弦高が低過ぎて音詰まりする状態です。
    楽器店で買うと大体は弦高が高い事が多いですが何故か極端に低い物もあったりとバランスが非常に悪いです。

    調整する事で問題無く弾き易い状態に仕上げる事ができました。

    必要な音しか出てないレンジ感で非常に良いベースです。
    ギブソン系はギターの方に注目が集まりますが逆で、ギブソン系はベースが良いです。
    世間の認知はかなりズレが生じて良い物が正しく評価されないのですが、ベースの方がギターよりも優秀です。

  • ハムバッカーのポールピース高さ調整改造　シングルコイルの様にハムバッカーも高さ調整を行う事で音が良くなる。

    ハムバッカーも改造する事で更に音が良くなります。

    PUはそもそも各弦の音量バランスが合っておりません。
    それを調整するだけでも非常に音が良くなります。
    特にシングルコイルの様に調整ができないタイプのPUを改造で高さを整える事で音が非常に良くなる事はリスナーなら知っている事でしょう。

    そしてハムバッカーはあくまで「調整できる片側だけで音量調整をしている」という事です。
    ハムバッカーは2つのシングルコイルを並べた構造で、片方が調整ビスの仕様です。
    このビス側を上げ下げする事で音量バランスを整える訳ですが、結果的にメインはこのビス側で音をコントロールしている事になります。

    基本的に弦の音量は大きく異なるので、部分的に大きく差が出ます。
    分かり易いのは3弦と4弦です。
    3弦プレーン弦は音が大きく、基本的にポールピースをかなり引っ込ませます。
    4弦は逆に音が小さい為、極端に高さが出っ張る事となります。
    それを片側だけで調整している訳ですから、もう片方はバランスが悪い状態で音を拾っている事となります。

    結果的に調整側のコイルで音量を大小させて調整する形になります。

    つまりは調整できない側もバランスを整える事でハムバッカー全体でバランス良く音を拾う事となり音質UPが期待できます。

    ハムバッカーは片方を外し、別のハムバッカーから片方を交換する等してオリジナルピックアップを製作できる事を以前の動画でお話しました。

    それとは別にノーマル状態のハムバッカー片側はポールピース高さがフラットです。

    もう片側はビスなので調整できますが、もう片側はそれが行えません。

    これを調整する事で、お互いのコイルがバランス良く音を拾える状態になります。

    具体的にノーマル状態だと、パワーが弱い弦として4弦を例にすると片側はフラットで片側のビスで弦に近づけて音量を整える事となります。
    この形だと「片側があまり音を拾えていない・ビス側をメインで音を拾っている」とう形となります。
    調整できない側を改造でポールピース高を調整する事で、この音を拾うバランスを「5：5」の比率に調整する事が狙いです。

    もちろんこれらも音色なので、このアンバランスさが音に影響している事もありますのが音を拾う形としてはバランスが悪いです。
    これを整える事で音に影響は確実に出てきます。

    結果として音が良くなる事でしょう。

  • マーチン製OOO-18のセットアップです。

    アコギは弦張力が強いのでネックが順反りし易く、尚且つトップ材が浮いて弦高が高くなる原因となります。

    トラスロッドも最初から余裕が少なく、順反りを調整したらトラスロッド限界となりました。

    こうした状態もブログを読んでいたら決して珍しい状態じゃない事は知っていると思いますが、長持ちさせる為に買う前にトラスロッドの余り量を確認してから買わないといけません。
    それを怠るなら「ジャンク品を買うかもしれない行為」と覚えておきましょう。

    PUが増設されておりアンプからの音が良い音質でした。

    This is a setup for a Martin OOO-18.

    The neck of an acoustic guitar tends to bow forward due to the high string tension, and the top wood floats, causing the string height to be high.

    The truss rod has little room from the beginning, and after adjusting the forward warp, the truss rod was at the limit.

    If you read our blog, you know that this kind of condition is not uncommon, but you have to check the truss rod margin before you buy to make sure it will last a long time.
    If you fail to do so, remember that you may be buying junk.

    The PU was added and the sound from the amp was of good quality.

    ジェームスタイラー製USAクラシックのPU交換・セットアップです。

    リアをSuhr製ASATOBACKERに交換です。

    音が整っていてヴィンテージ感のモッサリとし過ぎないサウンド、SuhrのPUは良く出来ていて勧められるモデルが多いです。

    リアは暴れず良くまとまっているが地味にも感じるので、モダン系にも見えるギターな事と使用用途としてどこを目指しているのかにもよりますがモダン系に寄せた方が使い易いかもしれません。

    ASATOBACKERはモダン系ギターにはイメージとしては音が暗いので、狙って行うならOKですがアンバランスに感じるかもしれません。

    This is a PU replacement and setup for a James Steiler USA Classic.

    The rear is replaced with a Suhr ASATOBACKER.

    Suhr PUs are well made and recommended for many models.

    The rear is well put together, but it also feels a bit plain, so it might be easier to use it in a modern style, depending on the guitar’s modern look and where you are aiming to use it.

    The ASATOBACKER has a dark sound as an image for a modern guitar, so it is OK if that is what you are aiming for, but it may seem unbalanced.

  • エピフォン製レスポールスタジオのセットアップです。

    他店で状態が悪い様に言われたそうなのですが、特に異常はありませんでした。
    正直、新品でもまともな調整状態で売っている事の方が少ないのが問題です。
    そうした物しか販売側が触っていないとすれば正しい判断ができるとは思えません。

    正直多くの楽器屋も素人が表に立っている事も多いので、いくつかのお店でチェックした上で判断してもらった方が良いです。
    相手がまともかどうかの判断に分かり易いのは「弦は張りっぱなしで良いのか？」と聞いてみたら分かり易いと思います。
    楽器状態を詳しくチェックせず張りっぱなしで良いとか言ったらそこに頼まないで下さい。
    楽器を壊させて買い替えさせたり修理に行く機会を増やそうとして金儲けの事しか考えていない所です。

    調整する事で弾き易い状態に仕上げる事ができました。

  • スクワイヤー製ストラトキャスターのフレットすり合わせです。

    Eシリアルの国産時期のモデルです。

    フレット状態が悪く音詰まり箇所・チョーキングで音詰まり、ハイ起き気味でかなり状態が悪いです。
    ただ年代を考えたらこれ位の状態が普通です。
    古い年代＝状態が悪い事が当然なので、中古で購入する際には状態に期待しない方が良いです。

    古い年代は80～90年代でも高額で売れる様になり、状態等は平気でウソを付いて販売する所も多いです。
    楽器店や楽器業者も素人が多いので、ウソを付いてなくても状態等の判断ができない人が売っている事も多いので要注意です。

    フレットをすり合わせ問題が無い状態に仕上げる事ができました。

    This is a Squier Stratocaster fret grinder.

    This is a domestic period model with E serial.

    The frets are not in good condition, and the sound is stuck at the choking point and high up.

    It is natural that old age = poor condition, so when you buy a used one, you should not expect it to be in good condition.

    Older instruments can be sold for high prices even in the 80s and 90s, and there are many places that sell them lying about their condition and so on.
    Since many music stores and musical instrument dealers are also amateurs, even if they are not lying, there are many people who cannot judge the condition of the instruments they sell, so be careful.

  • フェンダージャパン製ストラトキャスターのフレットすり合わせ・ナット溝切り調整・ポット交換です。

    Vo不良で音が安定して出ない状態、フレット消耗で音詰まり、11-48弦を張っててナット溝に弦が合わずナット高が高い状態です。

    またアームバーのビス山が痛んでいるのか非常に動きが硬い状態、ビス山が壊れて破片が挟まっていた様子です。

    ストラトはボリュームを可変させて使用する事も多いと思うので消耗し易い所です。新品に交換し解決しました。

    ナットは大体1～2ゲージが入る様に切っている場合もあれば張った弦に合わせてキチキチに切る場合とメーカーの匙加減が異なります。
    ギターの場合10-46か09-42と幅広くゲージが使われる事が多いので、私は09を張る場合でも後から10に変更しても問題が無い様に46が入る様に溝を切っていた方が良いと考えます。それ以上のゲージは意図して使う事が多いので変更等は考えず張った弦に合わせて切ります。

    フレットをすり合わせ、弦に合わせて溝を切りまともに使用できる状態に修正しました。

    This is a Fender Japan Stratocaster fret grind, nut groove cut adjustment, and pot replacement.

    The sound is not stable due to Vo failure, fret wear and clogging, and the nut height is too high due to the 11-48 strings not matching the nut groove.

    The arm bar screws are damaged and the movement of the arm bar is very stiff, and it looks like the screw threads were broken and debris was caught in them.

    The arm bar is easily worn out because strats are often used with variable volume. We replaced it with a new one and solved the problem.

    The nut may be cut to fit 1 or 2 gauge strings, or it may be cut too tight to fit the strings you have put on it.
    In the case of guitars, I also think that it is better to cut a groove so that 46 can fit even if you put on 09 so that there will be no problem if you change to 10 later. Gauges higher than this are often used as intended, so we cut the grooves to match the strings that have been strung without thinking about any changes.

    The frets have been grated and the grooves have been cut to match the strings, and the fretboard is now ready for proper use.

    モンキー製スプリングリバーヴのLED交換です。

    LEDが眩し過ぎるとの事で交換の要望です。

    近年のエフェクターは何が影響しているのか不明ですがやたらと明るいLEDが好まれる様な傾向です。

    高光度LEDが付いており眩しいです。

    また要望として色は青から赤へ変更です。

    LEDも色により消費電力が異なり、詳しくはデータシートで調べる事が必要ですが青は赤よりも消費電力が大きい事が多いので音の面からなら青は光らせる事に多く電力を使うので音が悪くなると言えるかもしれません。

    交換し眩しくない状態になりました。

    t.m.p製ストラトキャスターのPU交換・ジャック交換・セットアップです。

    グリニングドッグ製55年モデルPUに交換、ジャックが消耗で交換しました。

    ギター本体もPUも知る人ぞ知るメーカーです。

    交換後のサウンドは耳に痛い所が出なくてコンプ感がありますが巻き弦の丸い感じの音が良いです。
    プレーン弦の音も痛くないのでストラト的にはマイルドなサウンドになります。
    巻き弦がトレブリーにうるさくないので細い音に感じない点も好印象です。

    PUの良さを引き出すのも本体の良さが必要なので、良いPUを買う事も大事ですが本体の良さも大事です。
    PUだけで音が決まっていると思っている人が多い印象ですが、大事な所はあくまでギター本体です。

    This is a PU replacement, jack replacement and setup for a t.m.p Stratocaster.

    Replaced with a ’55 model PU made by Grinning Dog, jack replaced due to wear and tear.

    The guitar itself and the PU are both made by a well-known manufacturer.

    The sound after the replacement is not painful to the ear and has a comped feel but has a nice rounded sound of the wound strings.
    The sound of the plain strings is also not painful, so it sounds mildly Strat-like.
    I also like the fact that the wound strings are not too loud on the treble so it does not feel like a thin sound.

    It is important to buy a good PU, but it is also important to have a good body.
    I have the impression that many people think that the sound is determined by the PU alone, but the important part is the body of the guitar.
