  • ヤマハ製BB734のミニスイッチ交換・セットアップです。

    ミニスイッチが破損している状態で交換しました。

    また大きく順反りし弾き難い状態です。セットアップするとトラスロッド限界状態となりました。

    弾き易く音が良いモデルです。
    ヤマハ製は低価格帯から良いモデルが多いですが状態に関しては低価格帯や高価格帯に関係無く基本保管方法は同じです。
    トラスロッドに余裕ができる様にこれからは扱わないと長持ちしません。

    This is a mini-switch replacement and setup for a Yamaha BB734.

    The mini-switch was replaced with a damaged mini-switch.

    It is also hard to play because of the large forward bow. The truss rod was at the limit when set up.

    This model is easy to play and has a good sound.

    PU交換は恐らく初めて自分の楽器を改造する手段になると思います。

    PU交換は手っ取り早く音質を大きく変える手段として用いられますが、実は交換だけでない方法で音を変える方法があります。

    今回はそんな改造手段の内容です。

    意外と簡単に行えるので、他と被らないオリジナルPUを製作する事も可能です。

    ハムバッカーの構造は非常に単純です。

    台座に2つのシングルコイルが付いているだけです。

    この2つのシングルコイルを直列配線する事でハムバッカーとなっています。

    台座へはビスで固定しているだけなので、動画の様に分解も簡単です。

    つまりはこの2つのシングルコイルは「交換可能」という事です。

    例えばAのハムバッカーとBのハムバッカーがあるとして、その片方のコイルを交換すると世の中に存在しないハムバッカーとなります。

    もちろん音がどうなるのかは未知数ですが、そもそもピックアップ交換自体も実際は交換してみないと正確な音は分からないので未知数の領域です。

    Youtubeやネット情報で音は正確には分からないので、結局は「付けてみないと分からない」が答えです。

    なのでこうした改造もPU交換と扱いは変わりません。

    一般的にハムバッカーPUは同じ型番がある場合でフロント用とリア用ではリア用の方がパワーが大きくなるモデルが多いです。

    特にフロント用だからフロントに付けないといけない決まりは無く、ポールピースの弦ピッチが違う場合がありますが問題無く音を拾えるならどちらに付けても問題はありません。

    そして「フロント用はパワーが弱い・リア用はパワーが強過ぎる」という、微妙なパターンもあったりします。

    どちらを元に改造しても問題ありませんが、リアPUで「パワーが強くて、少しパワーを下げたい」と思った場合はコイルを弱い物に交換したりする等（抵抗値が元より低い物に交換する等）で対処もできます。

    上級者向けにコイルを解いて巻き数を減らす改造もあります。
    これらはかなり難しいと思うので交換までが無難でしょう。

    ハムバッカーも簡単に行えてレベルアップさせる方法として「調整側のポールピースを2個仕様にする」がお勧めです。

    動画でも紹介していますが各弦の音量調整の他に「音色調整」が行える様になります。

    ネック側とブリッジ側でポールピースの高さ調整が行える事となりますが、ネック側を上げ気味にすると音が柔らかくなりリア側を上げ気味にすると音が硬くなります。
    PU1つで音色調整の幅が広がるのでお勧め改造です。
    ベアナックルPU等にこうした仕様のPUがありますね。

    PU交換で理想な音を探すのもお勧めですが、ハムバッカー本体を改造して使用する事もお勧めです。

    例えばコイルタップで使用して音が良いと感じるPU同士を組み合わせてみるのも面白いかもしれません。

    これにより世の中に存在するハムバッカーを使用して様々な組み合わせのハムバッカーを作る事ができます。

    是非とも活用してみて下さい。

  • フェンダーUSA製プレシジョンベースの配線直し・セットアップです。

    音が出なくなったり音がおかしいとの事で持ち込まれました。

    ジャックの消耗が原因そうな事と、配線が素人作業されており全体的に不安な状態です。

    ジャックを交換し素人ハンダ付け箇所を直してみたが音が細く、PUが断線している様な音です。

    しかしPUはテスターでチェックしてみるとしっかりとkΩの反応があるのですが、明らかに音量が小さく細い音色です。

    またPUを動かすと音が細くなったりする状態で、PU本体の根本も素人ハンダ付けされている状態でした。
    もしかしたらPU本体の配線材も変えられているかもしれない様子です。
    恐らく前オーナーがヴィンテージ配線やポット等を入手して後から交換した物？かもしれないです。
    もしくはフルオリジナルに近い状態にして売ろうとした様な状態かもしれません。

    PU本体の配線の交換、ハンダの付け直しを行ってみました。
    それでもPUを押し込んだりして負荷を与えると音が細くなったりするのでもしかすると内部のコイルが切れ掛かっている状態なのかもしれないです。

    ただPU本体に極端な負荷（PU本体を強く押し込む等）をしなければ現状では音が安定して出ているのですが、作業後は弾いてて音が細くなる事は無かったです。
    しかし状態として不安なのでお客様にはPU交換を推奨しました。

    後日、やはり音が細くなったりしましたのでPUを交換する事となりました。

    ヴァンザント製ヴィンテージプラスに交換しました。

    音がマイルドだが張りや明るさもあり、ピック弾き等でも暴れて音が細く聞こえる事も無いのでかなり優秀PUです。

    モッサリし過ぎず、硬くて細くも聞こえない非常に良いバランスです。
    いわゆるフェンダー的な音を安定して使い易くしたサウンドとなります。

    ヴィンテージギター・ベースはどうしても状態が悪い事や古いパーツに価値がある事から意図的に手を加えて販売されている事も多いです。
    状態が悪い事が大半なので、トラブルが起こる様であれば現行のパーツに交換が無難です。

    This is a rewiring and setup of a Fender USA Precision Bass.

    It was brought in because of a loss of sound or something wrong with the sound.

    The jack seemed to be worn out and the wiring had been done by an amateur.

    We replaced the jack and fixed the amateur soldering points, but the sound was thin and it sounded like the PU was disconnected.

    However, when the PU is checked with a tester, there is a solid kΩ response, but the tone is clearly low in volume and thin.

    Also, when the PU is moved, the sound becomes thinner. The root of the PU was also soldered by an amateur.
    The wiring material of the PU may have been changed.
    Perhaps the previous owner obtained vintage wiring, pots, etc. and replaced them later? Or, it may have been changed afterwards.
    Or, it may be that the previous owner tried to sell it in a state close to the full original condition.

    I tried replacing the wiring and re-soldering the PU itself.
    However, when I push the PU into the guitar and give it a load, the sound becomes thinner, so it may be that the internal coil is on the verge of breaking.

    However, if I do not put extreme load on the PU (e.g., pushing the PU hard), the sound is stable, but after the work, the sound does not become thin.
    However, I recommended replacing the PU to the customer because of the uncertain state of the PU.

    Later on, the sound was still thin, so we decided to replace the PU.

    We replaced it with a Van Zandt Vintage Plus.

    The sound is mild, but it has tension and brightness, and it doesn’t sound too thin when I play with a pick.

    It is not too mushy, not too hard and not too thin sounding.

    Vintage guitars and basses are often sold with some intentional modifications because of their poor condition and the value of old parts.
    If you are having trouble with it, it is better to replace it with current parts.

  • スクワイヤー製サイクロンのセットアップ・ジャック交換です。

    順反りで弾き難い状態です。

    トラスロッドが回してもあまり効かない様子で、こうした個体も珍しくなく全然多いですが必要以上に多く回さないといけないので実際にトラスロッドに余裕が多くても効きが悪いので実質トラスロッドに余裕が無い状態と同じになります。

    だから私が昔からYoutubeやブログでも言っている様に回して確認しないといけませんし、販売側もこれら状態を提示しないとダメです。
    トラスロッドに余裕があっても安心はできません。

    音が良く、ノーマルにしてはフロントの音がかなり良い個体です。

    スクワイヤー等の低価格帯モデルでも音質が良い個体は沢山あるので、メーカーや値段で楽器を決めない方が良いです。

  • ギブソン製スラッシュモデルレスポールのセットアップです。

    新品購入との事ですが弾き難く、1弦の音が変との事で持ち込まれました。

    順反り状態で弾き難い状態という他にも1弦ブリッジサドルの溝がおかしく音がしっかりと鳴らずモヤモヤした音です。

    ギブソン製のブリッジサドルは元々溝が切っていない物に弦をチューニングし、その状態から弦で打刻を付けて溝を切るそうです。
    結果的に溝がズレている事も非常に多いです。

    溝切りも正直適当レベルだと思うので、問題がある1弦は溝を軽く切り直してみると問題が無くなりました。

    メーカーもそうですが販売側も検品できる目や腕も無いので、こうした問題がある個体が平気で新品で売られているのが現状です。

    This is a Gibson Slash model Les Paul setup.

    The guitar was purchased new, but it was difficult to play and the sound of the first string was strange.

    The sound was not clear and muffled due to the groove of the bridge saddle on the first string.

    The bridge saddle made by Gibson is originally tuned to a string that does not have a groove cut in it, and then the groove is cut by imprinting the string on the saddle.

    I think the groove cutting is honestly at an appropriate level, so I lightly re-cut the groove on the one string that had a problem, and the problem went away.

    フェンダーメキシコ製ジャズベースのプリアンプ交換・セットアップです。

    新品で購入したばかりとの事ですが配線状態が雑、ノイズ処理の塗料の塗り方が酷いです。
    現行品は見えない所がここまでテキトーになっている事に驚きました。
    この辺りは確実に音質に悪影響を及ぼしているので、新品でも購入時は直しておきたいポイントです。

    完成後にザグリ内にパーツが入らない事が分かった？のか、ザグリを掘り足した様になっていますがその後でノイズ対策の塗料を塗っていない状態で組まれています。

    ESPシナモンに交換しました。
    音が自然でナチュラル系プリアンプです。

    ガッツリとEQが掛かるプリアンプは良くも悪くもエフェクターを通している様なサウンド傾向になります。
    楽器本体というよりは既に作られた音で鳴っている様な印象になるので、スタート地点にナチュラル系プリアンプを組むと楽器っぽさを損ねません。

    そしてプリアンプ交換についての注意点としてポットの穴数を確認しましょう。
    こちらのモデルは2軸ポットで3BandEQとなっており合計4穴＋ミニスイッチとなっていますが、シナモンのポットはバランサーポットを2個使用（トレブル・ベース）しています。

    つまりはシナモンの場合だとトレブルベースを2軸ポットにまとめられません。この辺りの知識が必要です。
    トレブルの1段はパッシブトーンの様子なので削れそうですがベースがバランサーで動くので2軸ポット等の通常のポットでは対応できません。

    そうした意味でもポット穴の数に対して交換するプリアンプのポットが使えるか？は事前に確認が必要です。
    お客様と相談しボリュームを無くしてPUバランサー・トレブル・ミドル・ベース・パッシブ/アクティブ切り替えの配線となりました。

    大きく順反りしており弾き難い状態を直し、弾き易い状態になりました。

    This is a pre-amp replacement and setup for a Fender Mexican Jazz bass.

    It is new but the wiring condition is messy and the noise treatment paint is terrible.
    I was surprised to see that the current product is so textured in areas that are not visible.
    This area is definitely having a negative impact on sound quality, so this is a point that I would like to fix when purchasing a new product.

    After completion, did you find that the parts could not fit inside the counterbore? It looks like the counterbores were dug out after completion, but they were not painted with anti-noise paint afterwards.

    I replaced it with an ESP Cinnamon.
    It is a natural sounding preamp.

    Preamps that are heavily EQ’d tend to sound like an effects pedal, for better or worse.
    It gives the impression that the sound is already made rather than the instrument itself, so a natural preamp at the starting point will not detract from the instrument’s character.

    As a note on replacing the preamp, check the number of pot holes.
    This model has a 3-band EQ with 2-axis pots, so it has a total of 4 holes plus a mini-switch, but the Cinnamon pots use 2 balancer pots (treble and bass).

    In other words, in the case of cinnamon, the treble base cannot be put together in a 2-axis pot. Knowledge in this area is needed.
    The first stage of the treble seems to be passive tone, so it can be shaved off, but the bass moves with a balancer, so normal pots such as 2-axis pots cannot be used.

    In this sense, it is necessary to check in advance whether the pots of the preamplifier to be replaced can be used in relation to the number of pot holes.     After consulting with the customer, we decided to eliminate the volume and use a PU balancer, treble, middle, bass, and passive/active switching wiring.

    順反りで弾き難い状態です。

    セットアップする事で弾き易くなりました。

    トラスロッドも余りが多く良好な個体です。

    古いモデルとしてはかなり珍しい状態の良さです。
    古い年代製の大体はトラスロッド限界・余裕が全然無い事が普通なので中々見ない状態です。
    楽器店でも購入する際は実際に「正しく調整させた上で」トラスロッドの余り量を確認して購入しましょう。

    音質も良く個体状態も良いので、かなり良好個体なので手放さない方が良いでしょう。

  • レジェンド製ストラトキャスターの配線直し・セットアップです。

    お客様の方で配線改造をして失敗した状態です。

    配線をやり直し無事に音が出ました。

    調整してみると意外と音が良く弾き易い個体で、3000円で買った個体との事です。
    元々は低価格帯ですが近年は精度も良くなってまず大きな不具合は減ったと思います。

    昔は1万円程度だとフォトジェニック製等のイメージが強く、誰がどう見ても酷かった物が多い代表メーカーですが近年はそうした酷い物も少なくなっています。
