  • ギブソン製レスポールスタジオのフレットすり合わせです。

    90年代製、音が詰まる箇所がある状態です。

    実際にすり合わせ作業をしてみるとローフレット側のフレットがガタガタ動く状態です。
    過去にもギブソン製に同じ事があったのでフレット溝がガバガバのままフレットを無理矢理付けている可能性が高いです。

    フレット全体が心配ですが、お客様と相談の上ガタつきが起こってるローフレット側にのみ修正を行いました。

    気になる方は過去にもギブソンでは同じ様なすり合わせの不具合があるので過去ブログを参照して下さい。
    それだけ皆が思っている程、有名なブランドが良い作りをしている訳ではありません。むしろ他と劣る事も多いです。

    ローフレット側には接着剤を流し込み、フレットすり合わせを行って問題無い状態に仕上げました。

    こうしたフレットがちゃんと固定されていない状態だと木材の変形、あまりに酷いと振動でフレットの高さが変わってきますので私の感覚ではギブソン製は購入して使用するなら自分でフレット交換しないと不安な状態です。

    Gibson Les Paul Studio fret leveling.

    90s model, with areas where the sound gets muffled.

    Upon actually performing the leveling work, the frets on the lower fretboard side were loose and wobbly.
    Since I’ve encountered the same issue with other Gibsons before, it’s highly likely the frets were forced into place with the fret slots already loose.

    While concerned about all frets, after consulting with the customer, we only corrected the loose low-fret side.

    If concerned, please refer to past blog posts as Gibson has had similar fret leveling issues before.
    This shows that even famous brands aren’t necessarily well-made as everyone assumes. In fact, they often fall short compared to others.

    We poured adhesive into the low-fret area, performed fret leveling, and finished it in a problem-free state.

    When frets are not properly secured like this, the wood can warp. In severe cases, vibration can even change the fret height. In my experience, if you buy and use a Gibson, you’ll feel uneasy unless you replace the frets yourself.

  • フェンダージャパン製エリッククラプトンモデル、ストラトキャスターのポット交換・セットアップです。

    ボリュームポットにガリで交換しました。

    ナットが消耗で4弦音詰まりしている状態・フレット状態が全体的に悪いです。
    相当弾き込んでいる状態です。

    今回は音が出て弾けるレベルまでの内容でしたが、次回はナット交換・フレットすり合わせをお勧めします。

    Fender Japan Eric Clapton Model Stratocaster pot replacement and setup.

    Replaced the volume pot with a Gari pot.

    The nut is worn, causing the 4th string to buzz. Overall fret condition is poor.
    The guitar shows significant wear from heavy playing.

    This time, the work brought it to a playable level with sound output. For the next visit, we recommend replacing the nut and refretting.

  • フェンダージャパン製ストラトキャスターのポット交換・セットアップです。

    ポットが固着で回らず破損している状態です。

    トーンが効かない状態ですが、そのままで良いとの事でトラブルが起きているボリュームポットを交換し無事に音が出せる状態になりました。

    音が良く弾き易い状態、トラスロッドの余り量も多く状態も良いです。
    Pシリアルのモデルですが、フェンダージャパンは当時の数万円でも非常に良い個体が多いのでお勧めです。

    Pot replacement and setup for a Fender Japan Stratocaster.

    The pots were seized and damaged, preventing rotation.

    The tone control was inoperative, but since the customer preferred it as-is, we replaced the problematic volume pot. The guitar now produces sound without issue.

    It now sounds great and plays smoothly. The truss rod has ample adjustment range and is in excellent condition.
    Although it’s a P-serial model, Fender Japan guitars from that era are highly recommended—even at tens of thousands of yen, many are outstanding instruments.

  • ジェームスタイラー製スタジオエリートの配線直し・セットアップです。

    楽器屋の中古購入との事ですがトーンが効かない状態、内部をチェックしてみると配線が非常に雑に作業されています。

    中古品とはいえ高額なモデルなのですが楽器店でもチェックの上で問題無いとの事で購入しているので中々びっくりする売り方を今でも行っている様子です。

    ポット3つを交換、スイッチの箇所にハンダ不良個所があり直しました。
    ハンダ不良個所は引っ張って配線が抜けるレベルの仕上がりなので、楽器屋の方では確実に内部をチェックしていない事は分かりました。

    弾き易く音が良いモデルで、音抜けが良くリアはタップ時の音も良く扱い易いです。

    James Tyler Studio Elite wiring repair and setup.

    Purchased used from a music store, but the tone control wasn’t working. Upon checking the internals, the wiring was extremely sloppy.

    Even though it’s a used item, it’s a high-end model. The store checked it and said it was fine before selling it, so it’s pretty shocking they still do business this way.

    Replaced three pots. Fixed solder defects at the switch points.
    The solder defects were so poor that pulling on the wires caused them to come loose, clearly indicating the music store did not thoroughly inspect the interior.

    It’s an easy-to-play model with great sound. It projects well, and the rear pickup sounds excellent when tapped, making it very manageable.

  • スクワイヤー製ストラトキャスターのフレットすり合わせです。

    状態として1弦が弦落ちし易いとの事で、他店でナットを1弦側にかなり余裕を持たせた状態にナット交換され改良されてあるモデルです。

    サイド処理が大きく丸めてある事・フレット状態があまり良くない（真っ直ぐ精度が悪く、押さえ難い）事から弦落ちがし易い様子です。

    私から見てもFender系は指板幅が狭いです。
    ここに大きなフレットが付いていたり、サイド処理が今風の大きな処理が行われていると狭い指板幅では対応が難しいです。

    フレットすり合わせし状態を良くしてセットアップし弾き易くしてみて、以前と全然違うとの事で良かったです。

    元からナット高が高いですが弾いてて気にならないとの事で、必要であればナット溝切り調整が必要です。

    This is a fret leveling job for a Squier Stratocaster.

    The condition was that the 1st string tended to drop out easily. This model had been improved at another shop by replacing the nut with one set significantly wider on the 1st string side.

    The string drop seems to occur easily due to the side processing being heavily rounded and the fret condition not being very good (poor straightness precision, making them hard to press down).

    From my perspective, Fender-style guitars often have narrow fingerboards.
    When large frets are installed or the sides are rounded with a modern, pronounced profile, this narrow fingerboard width makes it difficult to compensate.

    After leveling the frets to improve the condition and setting it up for better playability, the customer reported it felt completely different from before, which was great.

    The nut height was originally high, but the customer said it didn’t bother them while playing. If needed, nut slot adjustment would be required.

  • フェンダーUSA製ストラトキャスターのノイズ問題の相談です。

    弦に触れてもノイズが消えない状態です。

    お客様にお話を伺うと新パッケージのエリクサー弦に交換して（弦は新品で購入したばかり）から急にノイズが出てきたとの事です。

    テスターでチェックしてみると巻き弦が通電せず、巻き弦は弦アースが機能しない状態です。

    念の為に内部配線も確認しましたが問題無く、巻き弦の通電が悪いのでエリクサー弦の使用で弦アースが取れない事から弾いててノイズが出る事は間違いない状態です。

    エリクサーのベース弦では昔からこうしたトラブルは起こっていたりしたのですが、ギター弦ではあまり聞かなかったので驚きました。

    過去のYoutubeでも弦の製造に関わった方との対談でエリクサーはコーティング加工時の後処理で表面を削っているそうですが、この削りが甘いと弦の金属部分が露出せず弦アースが取れない状態になると思います。

    上記はあくまでも予想ですが、現に通電しないのはコーティングが厚い状態ですので弦アースが取れない状態での使用は難しいです。

    プレーン弦に触れていれば良いのですが、そうした意識を持って弾かないと通電しないエリクサーに当たってしまった際はややこしい事になります。

    I’m consulting about noise issues with a Fender USA Stratocaster.

    The noise persists even when touching the strings.

    According to the customer, the noise suddenly started after replacing the strings with a new package of Elixir strings (the strings were brand new when purchased).

    Testing revealed the wound strings are not conducting electricity, meaning the string ground is not functioning.

    I also checked the internal wiring as a precaution, but found no issues. Since the wound strings are not conducting properly, it’s clear that the string ground isn’t being established when using Elixir strings, causing the noise when played.

    I’ve heard of similar issues with Elixir bass strings for a long time, but I was surprised to hear about this happening with guitar strings.

    In a past YouTube interview with someone involved in string manufacturing, they mentioned that Elixir strings undergo surface grinding during post-coating processing. If this grinding is insufficient, the metal part of the string remains unexposed, preventing proper string grounding.

    This is just my guess, but since the current isn’t flowing due to the thick coating, using the strings without proper grounding is tricky.

    It’d be fine if you were playing plain strings, but if you don’t keep that in mind and end up with non-conductive Elixir strings, things get complicated.

    アッシュダウン製AL-MK500のポット交換・清掃・メンテナンスです。

    ベースアンプになります。

    メインボリュームポットのガリが凄く、ガリが酷過ぎて音が出ない状態です。

    他にもアウトプットジャックの固定が悪く、ワッシャーが無くなっておりこれによって締めても固定ができずガタガタ暴れる状態になっています。
    ワッシャーを追加してしっかりと止まる様に直しました。

    手持ちのポットでボリュームポットを交換し、問題無く音が出せる状態に復元しました。

    アンプやエフェクターの修理は保証対象外になり、パーツも同じ物が入手できない事も多いので代用できる物で対応できる場合は対応したりします。

    こちらのベースアンプは初めて触りましたが癖が無く非常に良いサウンドです。
    これが定番にならなかったのは正直意味不明です。確実にハートキーやアンペグよりも扱い易く音が良いです。

    Pot replacement, cleaning, and maintenance for an Ashdown AL-MK500.

    This is a bass amplifier.

    The main volume pot had severe scratching noise, so bad that no sound could be produced.

    Additionally, the output jack was poorly secured; the washer was missing. This meant tightening it didn’t secure it properly, causing it to rattle and move around.
    I added a washer and fixed it so it stays securely in place.

    I replaced the volume pot with one I had on hand and restored it to a state where sound can be produced without issues.

    Repairs on amps and effects pedals are not covered under warranty. Since identical replacement parts are often unavailable, we sometimes use suitable substitutes when possible.

    This was my first time working on this bass amp, and it has a very clean, excellent sound without any harshness.
    Honestly, it’s baffling why this didn’t become a standard model. It’s definitely easier to handle and sounds better than Hartke or Ampeg.

  • ギブソン製SGのセットアップです。

    順反りで弦高が高い状態です。

    どのギターも共通している事ですが弾き難い＝順反りしている事が大半です。

    サドルだけで調整するとかなりアンバランスな状態になり、弾き難い上に音詰まりが起こる様な状態になります。

    調整し弾き易い状態に仕上げました。

    音が良い個体です。SGは元々癖ある音がする事が多いので、ノーマル時は扱い難いと思うのでPUの高さ調整・PUのポールピース高調整でかなり印象が良くなると思います。

    This is a setup for a Gibson SG.

    It had a forward bow and high string action.

    This is common with most guitars: if it’s hard to play, it’s usually because it’s bowed forward.

    Adjusting only the saddles creates a very unbalanced state, making it hard to play and prone to muffled notes.

    I adjusted it to make it playable.

    This is a great-sounding specimen. SG guitars often have a distinctive, quirky tone out of the box, so I think the standard setup can be tricky to handle. Adjusting the pickup height and the pole piece height significantly improves the overall impression.

  • オールパーツ製ネック＋MJT製ボディのコンポーネントギターのセットアップです。

    大きく順反りして弦高が高く弾き難い状態です。

    ジョンメイヤー仕様との事でパーツもそのチョイスがされているとの事です。

    ピッキングで鳴らすのが難しいギターで、50年代コモリ系のサウンドですが強めのピッキングで歯切れも良くなったりとピッキングの反応がダイレクトに出る分で上手く弾くのが難しい印象です。

    クリーン系のあまり歪まないギターはこうした傾向な事が多いので上級者向けなギターの印象がありますが、弾きこなせれば自分の思い通りのニュアンスが出せて好印象になると思います。

    This is a setup for a component guitar featuring an All Parts neck and MJT body.

    It has significant forward bowing, resulting in high string action that makes it difficult to play.

    It’s specified as a John Mayer model, and the parts were chosen accordingly.

    It’s a challenging guitar to pick effectively. While it has a 50s-style warm tone, its direct response to picking pressure—where harder picking yields crisper attack—makes it difficult to play well.

    Clean-sounding guitars with minimal distortion often exhibit this tendency, giving it an advanced player’s feel. However, mastering it allows you to achieve precisely the nuances you desire, which should leave a favorable impression.

    ナット高がかなり高く弾き難い状態、フレット状態が悪く音詰まりする状態です。

    トラスロッドの余り量がかなり多く良好個体です。

    フレットをすり合わせナット溝切り調整を行い、音詰まりも無く弾き易い状態に仕上げる事ができました。

    ベースコレクションというメーカーもネックポケットにモモセの刻印があるのでディバイザー製造の物だと思います。
    こちらはかなり良い個体で好印象です。

    弾き易いし音が良いので、これは見つけたら購入する事をお勧めします。

    The nut height was quite high, making it difficult to play, and the fret condition was poor, causing muting.

    The truss rod has a significant amount of adjustment left, indicating a well-maintained instrument.

    After leveling the frets and adjusting the nut slots, we achieved a playable state with no muting.

    The manufacturer “Base Collection” likely indicates a Divider-made instrument, as the neck pocket bears a Momose engraving.
    This is a very good specimen and leaves a favorable impression.

    It plays well and sounds great, so I recommend purchasing it if you find one.
