サドウスキー製NYCスタンダードのフレット交換です。

過去に2回すり合わせしておりますが、それだけ多用している事によりステンレスフレットでもかなり摩耗してきています。
かなり多用するならステンレスフレットは10～15年で交換するタイミングが来ると思います。

交換するフレットは同じくステンレスフレット、細かく相談し今回はジャンボフレット（高さ1.4ｍｍ）に交換しました。

また長年使っているとネックは基本的に歪みが起こります。
元の指板状態が良くないのもフレット交換時の指板調整で削って整える事ができるので、交換後は非常に弾き易い状態になりました。

ベースでジャンボフレットもそこまで違和感無く弾く事が可能です。
モダン系な手触りですが、ギターと違って音程がシャープし易い等の違和感は感じ無いです。
ギターの場合は強く押さえると音程を上げ易いので、左手に強く押さえる癖がある人が弾くとまともに弾けないと思います。

低音が強いモデルだが交換後は音がタイトになり、輪郭が上がり音の形が見え易くなりました。
同じステンレスフレットでも質量（フレットの大きさ）や、フレットの打ち方（正しく指板に打って密着度が高いか？）、フレットのメーカーで音は大きく変わると思います。

フレット交換を今まで何度も沢山やってきて分かる事として、フレット交換に手間暇を掛けたら確実に音は良くなります。

ハイポジまで弾き易い状態で気に入って頂き嬉しく思います。

This is a fret replacement on a Sadowski NYC Standard.

Although the frets have been leveled twice in the past, heavy use has caused even the stainless steel frets to wear down significantly.
If you play the instrument extensively, I think stainless steel frets will need to be replaced every 10 to 15 years.

We opted to replace them with stainless steel frets again; after careful discussion, we chose jumbo frets (1.4 mm high) this time.

Additionally, after many years of use, the neck will inevitably develop some warping.
Although the original fingerboard was in poor condition, we were able to level it out by sanding it down during the fingerboard adjustment performed as part of the fret replacement, resulting in a very playable instrument afterward.

It’s possible to play jumbo frets on a bass without feeling too much of a difference.
While it has a modern feel, unlike a guitar, I don’t notice any issues such as the notes tending to go sharp.
With guitars, pressing down too hard tends to raise the pitch, so I think someone with a habit of pressing down hard with their left hand wouldn’t be able to play it properly.

Although this is a model with strong bass response, after the replacement, the sound became tighter, the definition improved, and the tone became easier to discern.
Even with the same stainless steel frets, I believe the sound changes significantly depending on the mass (fret size), how the frets are set (are they properly seated on the fingerboard with high contact?), and the fret manufacturer.

Having performed countless fret replacements over the years, I’ve learned that if you invest the time and effort into the process, the sound will definitely improve.
