「ギターを始めたはいいけど、最初の難関Fコードで心が折れそう…」

ギターを始めたばかりの皆さん、こんにちは！ DNS Guitarの村吉です。
僕も昔は、Fコードがどうしても押さえられなくて、何度も練習をやめようと思ったことがあります。あの人差し指一本で全ての弦を押さえる感覚、本当に難しいですよね。

でも、諦めないでください！ Fコードは、ギターを弾く上で避けては通れない、でも乗り越えれば必ず大きな自信につながる壁なんです。
今回は、僕自身の苦い経験と、これまでたくさんの初心者の方を見てきた経験をもとに、Fコードがどうしても押さえられない！ と悩んでいるあなたのために、必ず克服できる練習方法と、ちょっとした裏技を伝授します！

この記事を読めば、Fコードに対する苦手意識がきっとなくなり、ギターの練習へのモチベーションもグッと上がるはず。一緒にこの最初の壁を乗り越えて、ギター演奏の楽しさを味わいましょう！

～なぜFコードは難しいのか？～

まず、Fコードがなぜこんなにも多くのギター初心者を悩ませるのか、その理由をいくつか見ていきましょう。

人差し指一本での全弦押さえ: これが一番の難関ですよね。指の力だけでなく、指の関節の柔軟性や、指板に対する絶妙な角度が求められます。
指のストレッチ: 特に手の小さい方や、指の関節が硬い方は、指を大きく開く必要があるFコードを押さえるのが大変に感じやすいです。
他の指との連携: Fコードを押さえながら、他の指でCやGなどのコードにスムーズに移動させるのも、最初は戸惑うポイントです。
きれいな音を出す難しさ: 一つの弦でもしっかりと押さえられていないと、ビーンという嫌な音が出たり、音が途切れてしまったりします。
これらの理由が複合的に絡み合って、Fコードは初心者にとって大きな壁となるのです。でも、心配はいりません。これらの課題を一つずつクリアしていけば、必ずFコードを克服できます！

～挫折しない！Fコード克服のためのステップバイステップ練習法～

それでは、僕がおすすめするFコード克服のための練習方法を、段階的にご紹介していきます。焦らず、一つ一つのステップを丁寧にクリアしていきましょう。

●ステップ１：まずは指のストレッチから
ギターを弾く上で、指の柔軟性はとても大切です。Fコードの練習に入る前に、指のストレッチを習慣にしましょう。

指を一本ずつ反らす: 各指をゆっくりと反らせたり、手のひら側に曲げたりします。
グー・パー運動: グーとパーを繰り返すことで、手のひら全体の筋肉をほぐします。
指回し: 指の付け根から、ゆっくりと円を描くように回します。
これらのストレッチを毎日続けることで、指の可動域が広がり、Fコードを押さえやすくなります。

●ステップ２：人差し指一本での全弦押さえに慣れる
まずは、Fコードの核となる人差し指一本での全弦押さえに挑戦しましょう。

ギターを構え、ネックを握ります。
人差し指の腹全体を使って、1フレットの全ての弦を一気に押さえることを意識します。
各弦を一本ずつピッキングして、しっかりと音が鳴っているか確認します。最初は音がしっかりと鳴らなくても大丈夫。根気強く、指の角度や力を微調整しながら繰り返しましょう。

★【克服のコツ１】★ 人差し指の側面ではなく、「腹」全体で弦を押さえるイメージを持つことが大切です。また、指の付け根から力を入れるように意識すると、より少ない力でしっかりと弦を押さえられます。

●ステップ３：他の指を加えてみる（まずは省略形から）
いきなり通常のFコードを押さえるのが難しい場合は、まずは略式のFコードから挑戦してみましょう。

人差し指で1フレットの1弦と2弦だけを押さえます。
中指で2フレットの3弦、薬指で3フレットの4弦を押さえます。
この状態で各弦を弾いてみて、音がきれいに鳴るか確認します。
この略式Fコードは、通常のFコードよりも指のストレッチが少なく、比較的押さえやすいはずです。まずはこの形でFコードの感覚を掴みましょう。

●ステップ４： 通常のFコードに挑戦！
略式Fコードに慣れてきたら、いよいよ通常のFコードに挑戦です。

人差し指で1フレットの全ての弦をしっかりと押さえます。
中指で2フレットの3弦、薬指で3フレットの5弦、小指で3フレットの4弦を押さえます。
各指が他の弦に触れてミュートしてしまわないように、指の角度や位置を微調整しながら、全ての弦がきれいに鳴るように意識します。

★【克服のコツ２】★ 親指をネックの裏側の中心よりも少し人差し指側に移動させると、人差し指に力が入りやすくなります。また、肘を少し内側に絞るように意識すると、指全体に均等な力が加わりやすくなります。

●ステップ５：コードチェンジの練習
Fコードが押さえられるようになったら、次は他のコードとのスムーズなコードチェンジを練習しましょう。

まずは、押さえやすいCコード（3フレット5弦を薬指、2フレット4弦を中指、1フレット2弦を人差し指）とFコードを交互に練習するのがおすすめです。

最初はゆっくりとしたテンポで、正確にコードを押さえることを意識します。慣れてきたら、徐々にテンポを上げていきましょう。

★【克服のコツ３】★ コードチェンジの際、指板から指を離しすぎないように意識しましょう。指の形をある程度保ったまま移動させるイメージを持つと、スムーズなコードチェンジにつながります。

■それでも難しい…そんな時のための裏技■

色々と試してみても、どうしてもFコードが押さえられない…そんな時は、以下の裏技を試してみてください。

●カポタストを使う: 2フレットにカポタストを装着し、EコードのフォームでFコードを弾くという方法です。これは一時的な解決策ですが、Fコードの響きに慣れるためには有効です。

●ギターを変えてみる: ギターのネックの太さや弦高は、モデルによって大きく異なります。もし可能であれば、ネックが細めで弦高が低いギターを試してみるのも一つの手です。当店では、様々なギターを試奏できますので、お気軽にご相談ください。

●弦高を低めに調整・改造する：弦高が高い（ネックが順反り）などで弾き難いことも考えられます。またナット高が高い事により1フレットが押さえ難い事も多いのでリペアショップに相談しましょう。ここが直るとＦコードの難易度がグッと下がる場合があります。

●諦めずに続ける: これが一番大切です！ 誰でも最初は苦労します。焦らず、根気強く練習を続ければ、必ずFコードを押さえられるようになります。

～まとめ～

Fコードは、ギターを始めたばかりのあなたにとって、最初の大きな壁かもしれません。でも、決して乗り越えられない壁ではありません。今回ご紹介した練習方法やコツを参考に、諦めずに練習を続ければ、必ずFコードを簡単に弾きこなせるようになります。

I used to think about quitting my practice many times because I just couldn’t hold down the F chord. That feeling of pressing down all the strings with just one index finger, it’s really difficult, isn’t it?

But don’t give up! The F chord is an unavoidable obstacle in playing the guitar, but if you can overcome it, it will surely lead to a great confidence boost.
This time, based on my own bitter experience and the experiences of many beginners I have met, I would like to explain how to play the F chord! I’m going to share with you some tips and tricks that will surely help you overcome this obstacle!

This article will surely help you to get rid of your sense of difficulty with the F chord, and will motivate you to practice your guitar skills. Let’s overcome this first obstacle together and enjoy the joy of playing the guitar!

～Why is the F chord so difficult? ~ Why is the F chord so difficult?

First, let’s look at some of the reasons why the F chord bothers so many guitar beginners.

Holding down all the strings with a single index finger: This is the most difficult part. It requires not only finger strength, but also flexibility of the finger joints and a perfect angle to the fingerboard.
Finger stretching: It is easy to find it difficult to hold down an F chord, especially if you have small hands or stiff finger joints, which require a wide finger opening.
Coordination with other fingers: While holding down an F chord, smoothly moving to a C or G chord with other fingers can also be confusing at first.
Difficulty in producing a clean sound: If even a single string is not held firmly, it can produce an unpleasant beeping sound or a broken note.
All of these reasons combined make the F chord a major obstacle for beginners. But don’t worry. If you can clear these issues one by one, you will surely be able to overcome the F chord!

～Step-by-step practice method to overcome the F chord – Don’t fall behind!

Let me introduce my recommended practice method for overcoming the F chord, step by step. Don’t be in a hurry, and carefully complete each step one by one.

Step 1: Start by stretching your fingers
Finger flexibility is very important when playing the guitar, so make it a habit to stretch your fingers before starting to practice the F chord.

Warp each finger one at a time: Slowly warp or bend each finger toward the palm of your hand.
Goo-pah exercise: Repeat the goo and par motions to loosen the muscles of the entire palm.
Finger rotations: Slowly rotate your fingers in a circular motion, starting at the base of the fingers.
Continuing to do these stretches daily will increase the range of motion of your fingers and make it easier to hold down the F chord.

Step 2: Become accustomed to holding down all the strings with a single index finger.
First, try holding down all the strings with only one index finger, which is the core of the F chord.

Hold the guitar and grip the neck.
Using the entire belly of your index finger, press down on all the strings at the first fret at once.
Pick each string one at a time and check to see if the sound is firm. It is okay if the sound does not sound solid at first. Be patient and repeat the process while fine-tuning the angle and force of your fingers.

It is important to imagine that you are pressing down on the strings with the entire “belly” of your index finger, not the side of the finger. Also, if you are conscious of applying force from the base of the finger, you will be able to press the strings firmly with less force.

Step 3: Try adding other fingers (start with the abbreviated form)
If it is difficult to suddenly press a regular F chord, try the abbreviated F chord first.

Use your index finger to hold only the first and second strings at the first fret.
Hold the third string at the second fret with your middle finger and the fourth string at the third fret with your ring finger.
Try to play each string in this state and check if the sound is clean.
This abbreviated F chord should be relatively easier to hold than the normal F chord, with less finger stretch. Let’s start by getting a feel for the F chord in this form.

Step 4: Try the regular F chord!
After getting used to the abbreviated F chord, it’s time to try the normal F chord.

Press all the strings on the first fret firmly with the index finger.
Press the third string on the second fret with your middle finger, the fifth string on the third fret with your ring finger, and the fourth string on the third fret with your little finger.
Be aware that each finger should not mute the other strings by touching them, and be aware that all strings should sound cleanly while fine-tuning the angle and position of your fingers.

Tips for overcoming the obstacles 2] ★ Move your thumb slightly toward the index finger side of the neck, rather than the center of the back side of the neck, so that you can put more pressure on the index finger. Also, if you are conscious of squeezing your elbow slightly inward, it will be easier to apply even force to the entire finger.

Step 5: Practicing chord changes
Once you are able to hold the F chord, the next step is to practice smooth chord changes with other chords.

First, it is recommended to practice alternating between the C chord (ring finger on the 5th string at the 3rd fret, middle finger on the 4th string at the 2nd fret, and index finger on the 2nd string at the 1st fret) and the F chord, which is easier to hold.

At first, use a slower tempo and focus on pressing the chord accurately. As you get used to it, gradually increase the tempo.

★ [Tip 3 for overcoming difficulties] ★ Be conscious not to take your fingers off the fingerboard too far during chord changes. If you can imagine moving your fingers while keeping some of their shape, it will lead to smooth chord changes.

■But it’s still difficult…a trick for those times when you just can’t get it right.

If you still can’t hold the F chord after trying various techniques… try the following tricks.

Use a capotast: Attach a capotast to the second fret and play the F chord in the form of an E chord. This is a temporary solution, but it will help you get used to the sound of the F chord.

● Changing guitars: The neck thickness and string height of guitars vary widely from model to model. If possible, try a guitar with a narrower neck and lower string height. We have a variety of guitars available for you to try out, so please feel free to contact us for more information.

Never give up: This is the most important thing! Everyone struggles at first. If you keep practicing patiently and perseveringly, you will be able to hold down the F chord.

巻く回数が分かり難い場合、ペグの1個半先か2個先の位置（例：ストラトの6弦を巻く場合、5～4弦ペグの間か4弦ペグ位置）で弦に折り目をつけ、その折り目をペグに引っ掛けた状態で巻くと上手くいったりします。

もしくは巻き数を簡単に自由自在に変えられる商品が「ESPストリンガー」という商品です。
巻きたいペグにストリンガーの穴の大きさの合うペグ位置から巻き数を簡単に見て分かるという便利商品です！
巻きたいペグに穴を通した状態から1.5巻き・2回巻き位置に折り目を付け、折り目をペグに引っ掛けて巻くだけで簡単に指定した巻き数で巻く事が可能です！

・ステップ６：新しい弦を張る（ブリッジ側）
エレキギターの場合は、弦をブリッジのサドルに通し、ボディ裏側の穴に通します。アコースティックギターの場合は、ブリッジピンでしっかりと固定します。

・ステップ７：チューニングする
全ての弦を張り終えたら、チューナーを使って正しい音程にチューニングします。最初は弦が伸びやすいので、何度かチューニングを繰り返しましょう。

Why is it important to change strings?
You may be thinking, “I’m not going to break anytime soon, so I don’t need to worry about it yet. But if you neglect to change the strings, there are actually many disadvantages.

Deterioration of sound quality: Old strings accumulate rust and dirt and lose their original clear, crisp sound. In particular, the extension in the upper register is reduced, and the overall impression is blurred.
Reduced playability: Deteriorated strings have a rough surface and rust that makes them more prone to catching, making smooth fingering and picking difficult.
Tuning instability: Old strings tend to stretch and go out of tune easily. Even if you have made a good job of tuning your guitar, it will soon be out of tune, making it difficult to concentrate on your playing.
Rust can cause damage to the frets and fingerboard. Regular string changes are essential for the longevity of your precious guitar.

Step 2: Cut the old strings
Once the strings are loose, cut the strings on the bridge side (the lower part of the guitar). If you do not have string nippers, you can use scissors instead, but be careful not to injure yourself.

Step 3: Remove the old strings
Carefully remove the old strings from the peg side and the bridge side. Be careful not to lose the bridge pin (on acoustic guitars).

Step 4: String new strings (peg side)
