  • PRS SE製CE24のペグ交換・セットアップです。

    GOTOHペグに交換です。

    元のペグは特に無メーカー品の物が付いていると思いますが、GOTOH製に交換すると音が以前より太くなった様に思います。

    GOTOH製は金属が硬いのか他のペグよりも重量がある様子で音も硬質になる傾向に思います。

    パーツは音にも影響するので、交換してみると面白いです。

    This is a peg replacement and setup for a PRS SE CE24.

    I replaced the pegs with GOTOH pegs.

    I think the original pegs were unbranded, but after switching to GOTOH pegs, the sound seems fuller than before.

    Perhaps because the metal is harder, GOTOH tuners seem heavier than other brands, and I feel the tone tends to be a bit harder as well.

    Since parts affect the sound, it’s interesting to try swapping them out.

    ネック反り等を適切に整え弾き易く仕上げました。

    音が良い個体な上に中古購入との事ですが殆ど新品状態です。

    PUが他のSE製と違う？のか、音がクリアで抜けが良いのでかなり良い個体でした。

    Here is the setup for a PRS SE CE24.

    I’ve properly adjusted the neck curvature and other factors to make it comfortable to play.

    Not only does it have great tone, but even though it was purchased used, it’s in almost brand-new condition.

    Perhaps the pickups are different from other SE models? The sound is clear and projects well, so it’s a really great guitar.

  • PRS CE製カスタム24の配線直しです。

    中古購入との事ですが音が出ない状態です。

    内部をチェックしてみると配線が間違っており、その上でセレクター不良でしたので交換し正しく配線して問題が無い状態に仕上げました。

    中古品もお店から買うのか個人から買うのでも違いはありますが、近年はお店で買っても中身をチェックせず問題無いと販売している所も増えてきております。
    実際は問題があるのに問題無いと売るショップがある事は知っておいて下さい。

    使用してて状態がおかしいな？と思ったら買った所よりもリペアショップに持ち込み下さい。
    どうしても楽器関係は労働環境が悪いので従業員の教育不良・まともな人が離れる傾向でどこも人手不足です。
    知識が無い人が多くなってきたので、そんな所でチェックした所で解決できない可能性が高いです。

    This is a rewiring job for a PRS CE Custom 24.

    The customer purchased it used, but it wasn’t producing any sound.

    Upon inspecting the interior, I found that the wiring was incorrect, and the selector switch was faulty. I replaced the switch, rewired the guitar correctly, and restored it to full working order.

    There is a difference between buying used items from a store versus a private seller, but in recent years, even some stores have been selling items without checking their condition, claiming they are problem-free.
    Please be aware that there are shops that sell items claiming they are in good condition even when there are actually issues.

    If you notice something seems off while using it, please take it to a repair shop rather than the place where you bought it.
    The working conditions in the music instrument industry are notoriously poor, leading to inadequate employee training and a tendency for competent staff to leave, resulting in a shortage of personnel everywhere.
    Since there are more and more people without the necessary knowledge, there is a high probability that a check at such a place won’t resolve the issue.

    お客様の要望でステンレスフレットに交換です。

    ボリュームポットのガリで交換しました。

    ニッケルシルバーからステンレスフレットに交換すると音が硬くなります。

    昔は音が「キンキン」すると言われていましたが、近年のステンレスフレットは金属の材質が変わったのかあまりキンキンはしないがハイが痛い傾向よりもミドルが硬い傾向になっています。
    ローズ指板がエボニー指板になった様な硬さが出る音になります。

    実際に削ってても分かりますが、昔よりも金属粒子が大きい？のか、手に伝わる感覚なので言葉にするのは難しいですがステンレスフレットは硬くて削れ難いとは言え昔はサクサクと乾いた削れ具合だったと思うのですが、近年のステンレスフレットはゴリゴリとした粒子が大きく粘りがある金属になっている気がします。

    その辺りが音に影響が出ていると思います。
    昔よりは音の痛みが出ない分、音の面ではステンレスフレットも使用し易い事になったと思いますので交換時の参考にして下さい。

    This is a fret and pot replacement on a PRS Custom24.

    At the customer’s request, we replaced the frets with stainless steel ones.

    We also replaced the volume pot due to a scratchy sound.

    Switching from nickel silver to stainless steel frets makes the tone harder.

    In the past, people used to say the sound was “ringy,” but with recent stainless steel frets—perhaps due to a change in the metal composition—they don’t sound quite as ringy; instead of having piercing highs, the midrange tends to be harder.
    The sound takes on a hardness similar to that of an ebony fingerboard instead of a rosewood one.

    You can tell just by filing them—perhaps the metal particles are larger than they used to be? It’s hard to put into words since it’s a sensation transmitted through the hands, but while stainless steel frets are hard and difficult to file, I recall that in the past they filed away crisply and dryly. However, I feel that recent stainless steel frets have larger, gritty particles and a more viscous texture.

    I believe this is what’s affecting the sound.
    Since they don’t produce as much harshness as they used to, I think stainless steel frets have become easier to use in terms of sound, so please keep this in mind when replacing them.

    PRS製Custom24のネック折れリペア・セットアップです。

    6弦側にひび割れが起きている状態です。
    PRSは材の状態が良く乾燥も良好なので杢目に割れる事が多いです。

    お客様との相談で接着で対処しました。過去に一度折れている事もあるそうで、もしかするとその割れがきっかけて折れてしまった事も考えられます。

    フレット状態が全体の消耗であまり良くない状態の為、次回はすり合わせがお勧めです。

    PRS Custom 24 Neck Break Repair and Setup.

    The crack is located on the 6th string side.
    PRS guitars often split along the grain due to the high-quality wood and excellent drying process.

    After consulting with the customer, we addressed it with adhesive. It seems the neck may have broken once before, and that previous crack could have been the trigger for this break.

    The overall fret condition is not ideal due to wear, so we recommend refretting next time.

  • PRS SE製カスタム24の配線直し・セットアップです。

    PUに過去に私がお勧めしているFleorのPUセットに交換です。こちらは2個セットでも5000円程度のPUです。

    安物PUですがGibson系の太くて音がはっきりとしない所を改良した様な音で扱い易くなります。

    フロントは程好く太く、リアは厚みがあり硬さが少ないので5000円のPUとは思えないサウンドを感じると思います。

    近年は低価格帯のPUも音質が非常に良い事が分かり勧めておりますが、有名所のPUメーカーが値上がりで高価過ぎるのも問題です。
    この値段でこの音なら…と、そうしたPUになってきました。
    低価格帯はそうした意味でも安くて音が良いので、有名所のPUは選択肢から外れてくると思います。

    PRS SE Custom 24 rewiring and setup.

    The pickups were replaced with the Fleor pickup set I previously recommended. This is a set of two pickups costing around ¥5,000.

    Though budget pickups, they offer a sound that feels like an improvement over Gibson-style pickups—less thick and muddy, making them easier to handle.

    The front pickup offers a nicely balanced thickness, while the rear pickup has good depth with less harshness. You won’t believe these are ¥5,000 pickups.

    In recent years, I’ve come to recommend lower-priced pickups because their sound quality is surprisingly good. However, the problem is that famous pickup manufacturers have raised their prices, making them too expensive.
    At this price point, with this sound… these pickups have become the go-to choice.
    In that sense, the lower-priced options are both affordable and sound great, so I think famous brand pickups are starting to fall out of consideration.

    中古購入したばかりで音がおかしいと持ち込まれました。正常動作しない状態です。

    内部をチェックしてみると配線のミスがあり、内部が素人いじりされている様子です。

    中古品は前オーナーの雑な作業がされている事も多いので基本は電装パーツ全交換が基本です。

    配線ミスの箇所のみを直し、問題無く音が出る様になりました。

    こうした状態は部分的に直しても他の箇所でいずれトラブルが起こるかと思います。
    その都度直すか、最初に全て直すかはお客様の判断に任せますが中古品は見えない所に不具合を抱えているかもしれない知識は持った上で購入されると良いでしょう。

    This is a rewiring job for a PRS SE Custom 24.

    The customer brought it in shortly after purchasing it used, complaining of strange sounds. It was not functioning properly.

    Upon checking the internals, we found wiring errors and signs of amateur tampering inside.

    Since used instruments often have sloppy work from previous owners, a full replacement of all electrical components is generally recommended.

    We corrected only the faulty wiring section, and it now produces sound without issues.

    In such cases, fixing only part of the problem may lead to future issues elsewhere.
    Whether to fix things as they arise or address everything initially is up to the customer. However, it’s wise to purchase used instruments knowing they might harbor hidden problems in unseen areas.

  • ポールリードスミス製マッカーティのフレットすり合わせです。

    大きな消耗でフレット全体が削れております。

    フレットすり合わせを行い音詰まり箇所も無くなり弾き易く仕上げる事ができました。

    PUが交換されている様子で全体的に音が柔らかく良いサウンドです。

    元のPUだと音が明る過ぎて硬いと感じる人も多いと思いますが、ヴィンテージタイプのPUと愛称は良さそうに思いました。

    Fret leveling on a Paul Reed Smith McCarty.

    Significant wear had caused the entire fret surface to be worn down.

    Fret leveling eliminated any buzzing spots, resulting in a smooth, playable finish.

    The pickups appear to have been replaced, giving the overall sound a soft, pleasant tone.

    Many might find the original pickups too bright and harsh, but vintage-style pickups seem like a good match.

  • PRS製カスタム22のセットアップです。

    音がかなり良いモデルで、調整するとより良くなった事と思います。

    太さと音抜けが良く、ハーフトーンの音の粘りが良くどのポジションのサウンドも良い傾向です。

    22フレットと24フレットは特にフロントに違いがあり、22フレットはより指板側に近い位置にフロントPUを置けるので音的にも美味しい位置になります。

    たったこの距離だけでも音は結構変わるので、24フレットも使用しないなら間違いなく22フレットの方がフロントは音が良いと言えます。

    Setup for a PRS Custom 22.

    This is a model with quite good sound, and I believe it improved even more after adjustment.

    It has good thickness and projection, with excellent sustain in the half-tone range, and the sound tends to be good across all positions.

    The 22nd and 24th frets show particular differences in the front pickup’s sound. Since the front pickup can be positioned closer to the fingerboard at the 22nd fret, it achieves a more musically satisfying tone.

    Even this small distance makes a noticeable difference in sound. If you don’t use the 24th fret, the 22nd fret definitely produces a better front pickup sound.

  • PRS Custom24 セレクター交換 ロータリースイッチをトグルスイッチに変更 SEYMOUR DUNCAN Mark Holcomb Alpha and Omega Pickup Set

  • PRS製カスタム24のセレクター交換です。

    お客様のでPU交換し配線ミスしている状態です。

    また付いているロータリースイッチをトグルスイッチに変更し交換します。

    PUはセイモアダンカン製オメガに交換されています。

    音が硬くタイトで形が見え易いサウンドです。歪みには良い音質と思います。

    サドルのビスが錆びて回らない状態だが弦高は整っているので使用する事に問題はありませんが交換した方が良い状態です。

    クリーンは硬めでフロントはブーミーにならない太さとソロ弾きの音抜けが良いです。

    センターは厚みがあるが音抜けが良く扱い易いサウンドで良さげです。

    リアはギラつきがなく聞き易いのでどのポジションもサウンド面では良い印象のPUでした。

    Replacing the selector switch on a PRS Custom 24.

    The customer replaced the pickups and made a wiring mistake.

    We will also replace the existing rotary switch with a toggle switch.

    The pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncan Omegas.

    The sound is hard and tight, with a clear, well-defined tone. I think it sounds good with distortion.

    The saddle screws are rusted and won’t turn, but the string height is set correctly, so it’s usable. However, it’s in a condition where replacement is recommended.

    The clean tone is firm. The front pickup has a thick tone without being boomy, and it has good projection for soloing.

    The middle pickup has a thick tone but also good projection, making it a manageable and pleasant sound.

    The rear pickup has no harshness and is easy on the ears. Overall, it was a pickup with a good impression in terms of sound across all positions.
