アリエクスプレスで購入したというフォデラ風のオーダーベースのPU交換・配線直し・ノイズ対策処理・セットアップです。

製造元等の出所不明で低価格な事もあり当然ながら様々な不都合点があります。

PUがもしかして4弦用？なのか、1弦と5弦の音が小さいです。
特に5弦は音が小さ過ぎて他の弦の音量と3～4周りは小さく使い勝手が非常に悪いです。
恐らくPU内部のポールピースが5弦まで来ていません。PU高を高くしても音量が大きくならないので、5弦用のPUではない可能性があります。

またブリッジの弦ピッチがかなり広く、約20ｍｍはあります。

他にも配線が雑でノイズが多く、塗装が雑で剥がれたりする所が多数あります。

お客様持ち込みのアギュラーPUとプリアンプに交換、ザグリ内をノイズ対策処理して組み直しする事となりました。

お客様持ち込みのパーツなのでサイズ等は事前に確認してから購入した方が良いアドバイスはしていましたが、現物は若干違うのかザグリ内に僅かに入りませんでした。

こうしたパーツの注意点をYoutube等でも発信していますがPUの上面側と底面側で大きさが異なります。
横からみると台形の様な形状になっており、メーカーのページに記載されている寸法図はこの「上面側」になります。
上面側の数値だけを見て入ると判断しても、底面側が大きいのでザグリがギリギリだと入らない事が普通に出てきます。
そもそもメーカーもその表記をした方が良いと思います。実際に寸法図が違うのですから。

ザグリにパーツが入らないのでお客様と相談し、お客様の要望でザグリを空けるのではなくPUの側面を削って入れる事になりました。
僅かな数値なのでパーツ自体を加工する手段もアリですがメーカーの保証は無くなります。こちらでもPU本体に手を加える作業の保証は致しておりません。
万が一壊れても自己責任になります。

仕上げてみるとパッシブ時でも音が良く、各弦の音量バランスも良くてかなり良いサウンドです。
ベース本体の出所は変な所ですが、アギュラーの良いパーツで構成すると非常に良いベースサウンドになる事が知れて良い勉強にもなりました。
クオリティ面でもフレット箇所でビビりがある所がありますが、アンプを通せはそこまで気にならないかと思います。
フレットサイドは怪我するかもしれないので、必要であればサイド処理はした方が良い状態です。

This is a project involving pickup replacement, rewiring, noise reduction, and setup for a custom Fodera-style bass purchased on AliExpress.

Since the manufacturer and origin are unknown and the price was low, it naturally has various issues.

The pickups might be designed for a 4-string bass, as the sound from the 1st and 5th strings is very quiet.
The 5th string, in particular, is so quiet that it’s about three to four times quieter than the other strings, making it very difficult to play.
It’s likely that the pole pieces inside the pickup don’t extend all the way to the 5th string. Since raising the pickup height doesn’t increase the volume, it’s possible this isn’t a pickup designed for a 5-string.

Additionally, the wiring is sloppy and produces a lot of noise, and the finish is rough with numerous areas where the paint is peeling.

We decided to replace it with an Agular pickup and preamp provided by the customer, apply noise-reduction treatment inside the cutaway, and reassemble the instrument.

Since these were parts provided by the customer, I had advised them to check the dimensions beforehand before purchasing. However, the actual part was slightly different and didn’t quite fit into the counterbore.

I’ve shared these precautions regarding such parts on YouTube and other platforms: the top and bottom surfaces of the PU have different dimensions.
When viewed from the side, it has a trapezoidal shape, and the dimensional drawings listed on the manufacturer’s website show this “top surface.”
Even if you assume it will fit based solely on the top-side measurements, the bottom side is larger, so it’s common for the part to not fit if the cutout is too tight.
I think the manufacturer should actually specify this. After all, the actual dimensions are different.

Since the part wouldn’t fit in the cutout, I consulted with the customer, and at their request, we decided to shave down the side of the pickup instead of enlarging the cutout.
Since the difference is minimal, modifying the part itself is an option, but this would void the manufacturer’s warranty. We also do not provide a warranty for any modifications made to the pickup itself.
If it breaks, it will be at your own risk.

Once finished, the sound is excellent even in passive mode, with good volume balance across all strings—it’s a really great sound.
Although the origin of the bass itself is a bit unusual, it was a good learning experience to see that using high-quality Agular parts results in an excellent bass sound.
In terms of quality, there is some buzzing at the frets, but I don’t think it will be too noticeable once you plug it into an amp.
The fret sides are sharp and could cause injury, so if necessary, I recommend sanding them down.
