  • ヤマハ製SG-1000のフレットすり合わせです。

    音詰まり、フレット交換歴があるとの事だがフレットの高さ精度が悪い状態です。

    ヤマハの古いSGモデルは中古価格が非常に高額になってきており気軽に入手できないモデルになりつつあります。

    ナット高が低く消耗してくると音詰まりしそうな状態です。

    フレットをすり合わせ、問題が無い状態に仕上げました。
    ナットはまだ使用できそうですが、消耗すると開放弦の音が詰まってくるかもしれません。その際は交換です。

    ESP製ホライズンのブリッジ交換です。

    中古品なのでブリッジが交換されフロイドローズライセンス品が付いた状態、こちらを純正フロイドローズに交換です。

    びっくりですが現在はフロイドローズの入手も困難で、売っててもかなり高額になっており倍以上の価格になっています。

    フロイドローズが付いたギターは本来製作時に指板Rはフロイドローズに合わせて加工します。
    ですが完璧に合わせるのも難しいので、微妙な弦高の差は合わす為に調整ではシムを使います。
    メーカーでもこの辺りを分かっていなくて製造されている事も今現在でもありますので要注意です。
    具体的にフロイドローズブリッジはフラット系のブリッジなので、指板RがキツいRだと1弦6弦側が弦高が高くなってしまいます。

    お客様がシムも持ち込んでくれたので調整でしっかりと弦高を整えて仕上げました。

    This is a bridge replacement for an ESP Horizon.

    When a guitar with a Floyd Rose is manufactured, the fingerboard radius is originally machined to match the Floyd Rose.
    However, it is difficult to perfectly match the fretboard radius, so shims are used to adjust for subtle differences in string height.
    Even nowadays, some manufacturers do not understand this point, so please be careful.
    Specifically, the Floyd Rose bridge is a flat bridge, so if the fingerboard radius is too tight, the height of the first 6 strings will be higher.

    The customer also brought in shims, so we adjusted the string height and finished it up.

  • フェルナンデス製Zo-3左利き用のナット取り付け・セットアップです。

    中古購入との事ですがナットが取れている状態です。

    こうしたヘッド形状だとナットに無理な横力が掛かっているので接着が甘いと外れると思います。
    ただナットは消耗品なので基本的に「外し易い程度に接着する」のが本来は正しいです。
    消耗品なのにナットが簡単に外せない位に接着されている方がダメです。

    恐らくナットが素人交換されており、それが理由でちゃんと付いていないので取れる事とサイズが全く合っていません。
    よくあるナットは全て同じサイズと勘違いして自分で交換し失敗して手放した物と思います。

    遊び用ギターとの事であまりお金を掛けたくないお客様の要望からナット底面に紙を挟んで高さ調整を行い仕上げました。
    本来は良くないですがお金を掛けたくない理由で要望でもある事でしたらしょうがない対処法です。

    大きく順反りしており、調整にてトラスロッドが限界近い状態になりました。
    ヤフオクやメルカリ中古品は状態を確認できないのでリスクも大きいので、いくら説明で良い様に書いてあっても後からいくらでも「主観」で通る話ですので要注意です。

    This is a Fernandez Zo-3 left handed nut installation and setup.

    The nut has been removed from the head.

    The nut is not glued well because of the force exerted on it by the shape of the head, so if it is not glued well, it will come off.
    However, since the nut is a consumable item, it is basically correct to “glue the nut to the extent that it is easy to remove”.
    It is wrong if the nut is glued to the extent that it cannot be easily removed even though it is a consumable item.

    The nut has probably been replaced by an amateur, and that is why it is not attached properly, so it can be removed and the size is not correct at all.
    I think the guitar was given away because he mistakenly thought that all nuts are the same size, which is common, and replaced it by himself.

    The customer did not want to spend a lot of money on this guitar for fun, so we put a piece of paper between the bottom of the nut and adjusted the height.
    This is not a good idea, but if this is what the customer wanted because he did not want to spend a lot of money, it is the only way to deal with it.

    The truss rod is now at the limit.
    The risk is great because you can’t check the condition of the used goods on Yahoo Auctions and Mercari, so even if the description says it is in good shape, it is a “subjective” story that can be passed off as anything after the fact, so be careful.

    Do you store them without loosening them?

    In conclusion, first of all, how much extra truss rod do you have on your guitar at the moment? Please check.

    To be precise, the first step is to determine the state of being well adjusted.

    The range within which the truss rod can be adjusted should be determined as the range within which the neck warp can be corrected.

    If the range is too narrow, it may not be possible to correct the warp in the future, and the life of the guitar will be shortened.

    Assuming that the adjustment was done properly, to what extent can the truss rod be tightened from this state? Please check by turning the truss rod.

    Turning the truss rod will not break it. If it does break, it is due to a manufacturing error on the part of the manufacturer, not because it broke.

    At this point, if the extra amount is too small, the condition will quickly reach its limit.

    However, there are many such instruments. If the truss rod excess is small, the strings must be loosened.

    On the other hand, if the excess is too large, especially if it is close to 100%, it is acceptable to leave the strings on only in this case, since reverse warping is a problem.

    This is the correct way to judge. Should I loosen or not loosen the strings? This is the correct way to decide whether to loosen or not loosen the strings.

    If you loosen the strings and they are inverted, this is a good thing.

    If it warps back, the truss rod will have to be loosened, and as a result, the truss rod will be closer to its normal state.

    An instrument with only a small amount of truss rod remaining will be difficult to keep in service for a long time unless you keep the strings loose and aim for reverse warping.

    This is the way to ensure the longevity of your treasured instrument.

  • フェンダージャパン製ストラトキャスターのジャック交換・セットアップです。

    PUは名前付きの物が付いているモデルの様です。

    ジャックが摩耗しているので交換、PUの高さ調整ゴムが劣化してるので新品に交換しました。
    ストラト等はゴムの劣化でPUの高さ調整ができない物があるので、古い物は交換していた方が良いです。

    順反りを直し弾き易く調整しました。

    こちらは音が良い個体です。
    当時のフェンダージャパンはコストパフォーマンスに優れ、数万円のモデルでも今の20万円台とそこまで差は無いと思います。
    中古価格も高騰し、大体は状態が悪いので購入は難しいかもしれませんが状態が良い物を買えるならとても良い買い物になります。

    This is a Fender Japan Stratocaster jack replacement/setup.

    The PU seems to be a model with a named one.

  • How to know how soft the neck is.

  • There are several ways to know how soft the neck is.

    First, the strings are left unstrung.
    Then loosen the truss rod completely.

    This will give you an idea of the current state of the neck warp.

    Many necks have a large forward bow at this point.
    Remember this initial warp.
    Or, check the warp by holding it up to a straight object such as a ruler.

    Put the strings on and tune it, and see how much it warps. How much it warps?

    If it warps significantly, it means that the neck material is soft.
    On the other hand, if it does not warp much, it means the neck material is hard.

    If it warps a lot, you will have to use a truss rod to correct the warp.

    In other words, a softer neck means more truss rod is used and less room is available.

    This means that even new necks are sold with only a small amount of truss rod remaining, and some are sold with the truss rod at its limit from the start, a trend that is increasing each year.

    This is true even for well-known and expensive manufacturers.

    Therefore, please be sure to check the amount of truss rod remaining before you buy.
    If the music shop is not able to check, do not buy from them.

    You will end up buying an expensive instrument with a short life span, and you will lose money.

    This is the current situation in Japan.

    The reason is that there is no good wood in recent years and many woods are not strong enough.

    The manufacturer has to put reinforcement in the neck because of the recent wood situation.

    The instruments with weak wood and soft necks will probably reach the end of their useful life in a few years.

    The reason is simple.
    The seller is an amateur and does not understand this anomaly.

    In addition, customers buy these items in poor condition because they do not check the merchandise closely.

  • Black Smoker Guitar ストラトキャスター TRAD MASTER SERIES ポット交換＆ジャック交換＆セットアップ

  • ブラックスモーカー製ストラトキャスター、TRAD MASTERのポット交換・ジャック交換・セットアップです。

    ヴォリュームポットが軽いので交換してほしいとの事です。恐らく接点洗浄剤を使用して回りが軽い状態になっていると思います。

    電装パーツがピックガードと一式交換されている様子で、ハンダ付けが素人作業状態です。
    中古品は元のパーツに良い物が付いていると交換して別の物に代わっている可能性があります。

    元はリアハムバッカーが付いたモデルから流用している様でポットは500ｋΩが付いていたり、交換した様な形跡がありました。
    ジャックも緩いので交換、トーンはガリで効きがおかしいので洗浄剤で対処しました。

    ネック材がローズウッドの様で音が柔らかく痛い高域が出ないので耳馴染みが良いサウンドです。
    特に巻弦がギラギラしないので凄く良いサウンドです。
    どうしてもストラトキャスターの音は高域がバリバリ痛い傾向になると音も細く、巻き弦も暴れ気味にビビり音も大きく聞こえるのであまり音として良い傾向になりません。
    ギターの音が良く耳が痛い所だけを無くすにはトーンを絞るだけでは難しく、落ち着いた音がする木材を使用するのは良い考えですがこの効果が高過ぎると音がモッサリ傾向に寄ります。

    順反りで弦高が高い状態を調整し弾き易い状態に仕上げました。

    ブラックスモーカー製は私もお勧めしているブランドですのでチェックしてみて下さい。

    This is a pot replacement, jack replacement and setup for a Black Smoker Stratocaster, TRAD MASTER.

    The volume pot is light and needs to be replaced. Probably, the contact cleaner was used to make the pot lighter.

    The electrical parts have been replaced with a pickguard, and the soldering was done by an amateur.
    If the original parts are good, the used parts may have been replaced with new parts.

    The pots are 500k ohm and there are signs that they have been replaced.
    The jack was loose, so it was replaced, and the tone was a little stiff, so I used a cleaning agent to clean it up.

    The neck material seems to be rosewood, and the sound is soft and comfortable to the ear with no painful high frequencies.
    The sound is very good, especially the wound strings do not glare.
    Stratocaster’s sound is not so good because it tends to be painful in the high frequency range, the sound is thin, and the wound strings sound too loud and jerky.
    It is difficult to make a guitar sound good and eliminate only the parts that are painful to the ear by just narrowing down the tone. Using wood with a calm sound is a good idea, but if this effect is too strong, the sound will tend to be muffled.

    I adjusted the high string height to make the guitar easy to play.

    Blacksmoker is a brand that I recommend, so please check them out.

  • シェクターUSA製SD-2-22の配線直し・セットアップです。

    トーンが効かない、順反りで弦高が高い状態です。

    お客様の希望でボリュームを軽い物へ交換しました。

    トーンは稀なポット破損ですが、ポットのケース（パーツの外側）がアースに落ちていないポットという珍しい故障例です。
    ポットの背中や側面にアース線をハンダで繋げる事が一般的ですが、そのポット自体がアースに落ちない状態になっていました。
    言葉だけだと意味が分からないかもしれませんが、こうしたトラブルが起こるのは「アース線をハンダ付けしていないから」から起こるトラブルです。

    どういう中身をしていたかと言えば、元がノイズ処理の塗料が塗られているがアース線が取られていなくアルミテープを張っただけの状態です。
    ブログやYoutubeを見てる人は分かると思いますがこうした仕上げだとポットが緩んで固定が甘くなると通電不良等の影響が出る状態です。
    今回はポットのケースが原因は不明ですがアースに落ちないので、コンデンサの片方がアースに落ちないのでトーンが効かない状態になっていました。
    アース線を増設しパーツをしっかりアースする事で問題無い状態になりました。

    音が柔らかくモダン系にしては硬くないサウンドです。

    調整後にトラスロッド限界となりました。値段が高いハイエンドでも弦は張りっぱなしにしているとどんどん順反りしていきロッドの余り量が少なくなっていきます。
    よくフロイドローズでも弦を緩めるのか？と聞かれますが、聞く人に問いたいですがただ面倒だからでしょう？
    緩めた方が良いです。木片等を挟んでアームダウン状態で弦を緩める人も居られますがこの場合はスプリングが伸びてしまいます。
    高さに合った木片なりゴム板を挟んでロックを外し、弦を緩めて保管しましょう。

    This is a Schecter USA SD-2-22 rewired and setup.

    Tone is not working and string height is high due to forward warping.

    We replaced the volume with a lighter one at the customer’s request.

    The tone is a rare pot breakage, but this is an unusual failure example of a pot where the pot case (outside of the part) is not grounded down.
    It is common to solder a ground wire to the back or side of the pot, but the pot itself was not falling to ground.
    You may not understand the meaning of the word alone, but this kind of trouble occurs because “the ground wire is not soldered to the ground”.

    What kind of contents were in the original state, the original was coated with noise treatment paint, but the ground wire was not taken and just covered with aluminum tape.
    As you can see from the blog and Youtube, if the pot is loose and not secured properly, it can cause problems such as poor current flow.
    In this case, the pot case was not grounded for unknown reasons, and one of the capacitors was not grounded, so the tone was not working.
    By adding a ground wire and grounding the parts properly, there was no problem.

    The sound is soft and not hard for a modern type.

    The truss rod was at the limit after adjustment. Even on the higher end of the price range, if the strings are left taut, they will continue to warp and the amount of excess rod will become less and less.
    People often ask me, “Do you loosen the strings even on a Floyd Rose? I would like to ask the person who asks this question, but it is just because it is a hassle, isn’t it?
    It is better to loosen them. Some people put a piece of wood between the strings and loosen them with the arm down, but in this case, the spring will be stretched.
    In this case, the spring will be stretched.

  • Musicman StingRay PU交換＆ジャック交換＆セットアップ bartolini MMC

  • ミュージックマン製スティングレイのPU交換・ジャック交換・セットアップです。

    バルトリーニ製MMCのPUに交換です。

    もしこのMMCに交換を考えているなら要注意なポイントです。

    これは全てのスティングレイの年代を把握していないので不明点はあるのですが、こちらのPUはかなり分厚く、元から付いているPUは薄型でボディ本体ザグリも浅いのでMMCはそのまま付けて入りません（弦に当たる）。
    これは年代によりザグリが深いモデルがあるのかまでは不明ですが少なくともこのスティングレイに無加工で取り付けは不可でした。
    「スティングレイの交換PU用」として販売されているだけに知らない人が見ると問題無く交換できるPUと勘違いしてしまいます。

    更に難点を増やす理由としてPUの配線が太い・PU裏のハンダ箇所が突起として本体から飛び出ているので余計に本体の厚みを増やしている原因となります。
    これによりPU本体分のザグリ＋配線が太いのでPU下に潰されない程度のザグリ＋元の配線穴がザグリ上部に空いているので潰されない様に下側にも配線が逃げる穴を空ける＋飛び出たハンダ箇所分のザグリを考えたザグリ増設が必要です。

    今回はお客様の要望で丁寧なザグリ加工でなく、その場しのぎ加工で構わないとの事でボール盤で穴を空けて配線やハンダ突起部分を逃がす大まかな加工で対処しました。
    最低限、弦にぶつからない程度の所まで取り付けは可能になりましたがPU本体を下げたい際はザグリを深くする加工が必要にあります。

    またジャックにガリがあるので交換しました。

    各弦の音量バランスが良くEQの乗りも良いPUです。
    バルトリーニPUはスタジオミュージシャン等に使われている事も多い理由が分かります。
    変な癖が無く音の付け足しがし易いので扱い易いオススメPUです。

    調整でトラスロッドが限界状態となりました。
    よくある「スティングレイのネックは弱い」みたいな事が昔から言われていますが、皆同じです。
    ミュージックマン製品に限らず、多くのメーカー製品はそこまで考えて製造しておらずネックの構造上で弦の強い張力に耐えきる為の工夫等もされておりません。

    弦の張力は物凄く強い負荷ですので、補強材を入れる等の工夫はまず必須と言えます。
    そして使用する側もその事を理解し、日頃から弾かない時は弦を緩めておかないといけません。

    PU replacement, jack replacement and setup for a Musicman Stingray.

    This is a replacement for a Bartolini MMC PU.

    If you are thinking of replacing it with this MMC, be careful.

    I don’t know the age of all Stingray guitars, so there are some unknowns, but this PU is quite thick, and the original PU is thin and the body has a shallow counterbore, so the MMC will not fit in the body as it is (it will hit the strings).
    The original PU is quite thick, and the body has a shallow counterbore, so the MMC cannot be installed without modification (it hits the strings).
    The MMC is marketed as a “replacement PU for Stingray”, so those who don’t know about it may mistake it for a PU that can be replaced without any problems.

    The wiring of the PU is thicker and the solder point on the back of the PU sticks out from the body as a protrusion, which increases the thickness of the body.
    Therefore, it is necessary to add a counterbore for the PU body + a counterbore under the PU to prevent the wiring from being crushed by the thick wiring + a hole for the wiring to escape from the original wiring hole on the top of the counterbore + a counterbore for the protruding solder joints.

    In this case, the customer requested a makeshift process rather than a detailed counterboring process, so we used a drilling machine to make a hole to allow the wiring and solder protrusion to escape.
    We were able to install the PU at least to the point where it would not hit the strings, but if we wanted to lower the PU itself, we would need to deepen the counterbored hole.

    The jack has been replaced because it has some buzzing.

    The volume of each string is well balanced and the EQ is good.
    I can understand why Bartolini PUs are often used by studio musicians.
    It is a recommended PU that is easy to handle because it has no strange habits and is easy to add notes.

    The truss rod has been adjusted to the limit.
    It is often said that “Stingray necks are weak,” but they are all the same.
    Not only Musicman products, but many other manufacturers’ products are not manufactured with this in mind, and the neck structure is not designed to withstand the strong tension of the strings.

    String tension is a tremendously strong load, so it is essential to use reinforcements or other measures.
    The user must understand this and loosen the strings on a daily basis when not playing.
